I am having problems with my wireless connection and troubelshoot tells me that I have a problem with the wireless adapter or access point. What can I do, as the internet is not the problem. Does this have something to do with my PC setting?

It's actually a very useful page containing many of the solutions found here. I went through each solution one after the other, and by the fifth solution, my Wi-Fi was up and kicking! :)

i have had this issue for years now. my laptop came with windows 8, widows 7 and presently i am using windows 10 all with the same issue. i have tried many steps to solve this issue without any luck.
i believe it's caused by two most likely culprits.
one possible cause is the router or modem you connect to using your wifi. most modems auto change channels and when it rolls to a new channel that your wifi is not configured to you loose your connection.
two, windows updates installs a new driver that does not work correctly with your computer. your system shows the network adapter is working correctly and you have the latest driver update, but it's the wrong driver. in windows 10 there is no way of preventing new updates to be installed as of 10/2016.
There's two ways to Block Unwanted Updates in Windows 10. You can hide an individual update being offered in the Windows Update list (one that is nearly ready to install but hasn't been installed yet). The 2nd option is to Block Automatic Driver Updates, but Keep all other updates.
