I am having problems with my wireless connection and troubelshoot tells me that I have a problem with the wireless adapter or access point. What can I do, as the internet is not the problem. Does this have something to do with my PC setting?

Yeah, although at least you don't lose hundreds of dollars or days of time. A reinstall takes about 20 minutes (if you have an i5 processor with at least 4GB of RAM), and reinstalling your favorite browsers, office programs, games... maybe another couple hours tops. So at the cost of maybe an evening or weekend afternoon, you've got a PC that's "like new" with no accumulated junk or issues. Not ideal, but definitely better than shelling out a ton of money on something new.

That is the last resort for basically any problem that won't go away. That's just like saying "go buy a new laptop from a store". So, not really a solution.

I've found a solution. It's a work around that doesn't concern any of microsoft tech.
Just go buy a $5 usb wifi. It's worth it. It just makes a good alternative to the wifi you have embedded in the Surface or any other PC.
Does it connect for a while then drop out periodically (every few minutes/hours), or does it never ever connect in the first place?
Also just before we go further, it's never a bad tactic to go to your PC builder's website (Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, whatever...) and download and re-install the latest available network/wireless drivers they have for your model. This solves more than 90% of most issues in less than 5 minutes.
