Suddenly when I try to open the Windows 8 Store App instead of taking me to the store the green App loading screen flashes up and then it takes me to my start menu.  I can hover my pointer over the upper left hand screen and see the app is there but when I switch to it I am get the flash of green app loading screen and then right back to my start menu.

I have found some similar issues on the forums but none of their fixes have worked for me.

This is a Windows 8 PC, not a tablet.

I fixed it.

The problem is caused by Windows Store app accessing internet through IPv6 connection.

IPv6 can be disabled by unchecking IPv6 in your network adapter settings.

If the problem still exists, try changing the DNS servers.

Hi James,

I understand that the Window Store app is not working.

1.    Are all other start screen apps work correctly?

  1. Have you made any recent changes to the computer?

I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below to resolve the issue with Windows Store.

Method 1: Please change the resolution and check if that helps.

a. Press Windows + x, Click or tap Command Prompt (Administrator).

b. Go to command prompt, type desk.cpl.

c. Please change the resolution of the screen to 1366*768.

Method 2: Run the Modern User Interface App troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Please go through the following link for troubleshooting.

What to do if you have problems with an app:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/what-troubleshoot-problems-app

Note: Please click on the troubleshooter link, download the file save it and run the troubleshooter:

Method 3:

I would suggest you to reset the store cache and check if you are able to open Store.

To do so:

a. Press Windows key + R

b. Type wsreset.exe and hit enter.

If the issue persists or if you face any Windows issues in future, let us know and we would be glad to assist you.

I concur with Kenneth and Nic T. None of the above solutions resolved the issue. I have made no changes to my system, other than Windows Updates. I also will not re-install the OS since I really don't want to have to re-install my software.

I just posted my own topic about this: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-windows_store/windows-8-store-not-working/a39ac464-7d64-4279-aab2-d743f5d5a0d0?tm=1374660239011

Having the EXACT same problems as you are. I was away from home for a few weeks, came back, installed the newest updates and everything is broken. Every suggested method is tested.

I'm joining you guys by agreeing to NOT do a fresh install of the OS. It might be the easiest and fastest solution, and installing all of the software again isn't a problem for me. BUT all the game data and save games are stored locally and I heard somewhere that if you use real money to buy in-game perks, you lose them if you re-install the game.

So Microsoft, please don't give us empty solutions that don't work. It would be a lot better if you just would tell us that you're working on a solution.

I would restore my PC to a earlier point but guess what? Four restore points are broken and I got an error message every time complaining that some file was corrupt and restore couldn't be completed.
