When was the computer originally purchased?

Are you using the screen that is part of the Notebook or connecting to an external monitor?

Yes...as i said above "I got an installation complete message and confirmation as below but when i restarted it did not replace the standard VGA." as you pointed out above from the sys info extract.

From this thread you can see that i have been unable ot install the recommended driver ( 8.860.0.0 VGA(Graphics), AMD driver) as i keep getting the following error after running the installation in catalyst.

I have downloaded and updated the firmware. However, i can still not downloaded the driver update...i received the same error msg as before:

This extract from your System Information should be different. It is revealing that your system is using generic Microsoft display drivers.

    [Display]

    Item     Value

    Name   Standard VGA Graphics Adapter

    PNP Device ID              PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6760&SUBSYS_B084144D&REV_00\4&4DCA75F&0&0008

Adapter Type  Not Available, (Standard display types) compatible

Adapter Description    Standard VGA Graphics Adapter

    Adapter RAM  Not Available

    Installed Drivers           Not Available

    Driver Version 6.1.7600.16385

    INF File              display.inf (vga section)

         Section of report removed

    Driver  c:\windows\system32\drivers\vgapnp.sys (6.1.7600.16385, 28.50 KB (29,184 bytes), 14/07/2009 9:38 AM

Download and install the Windows 7(32bit,64bit) 8.860.0.0 VGA(Graphics), AMD driver

    http://www.samsung.com/au/support/model/DP700A3B-S02AU-downloads#

Samsung will have customised the AMD driver for use with your computer.

It is conceivable that the graphics card has failed.
