0x80240437 Windows 8 Store error while installing apps

This error code suddenly appears in WIndows 8 Store when trying to install or update apps....  Solutions to this have not yet been found.

There are many references to some date and time issues but they are correct on my Computer.

I did use the troubleshouter for Windows update which states that something has been corrected.

There are errors in my Event logs...

ID 36888 System Log; A fatal alert was generated and sent to the remote endpoint. This may result in termination of the connection. The TLS protocol defined fatal error code is 10. The Windows SChannel error state is 10.

this is a fairly new Installation...

    I am glad to hear this solution has worked for you guys. I got lucky and stumbled up on the fix on another forum and figured I'd come back here and share since Micro$oft doesn't seem to acknowledge the problem. Let's hope this stays fixed. If not, well, at least we know how to fix it again.

    Go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836941 and scroll down to the "Resolution" section and click on Microsoft Fix It. Once you run the scan it will tell you that you need to restart your computer. DO NOT restart it. Do a hard shut down by pressing down on your power button. This just worked for me and I hope it works for you as well. Very frustrating issue.

    Wouldn't it just be great if Microsoft could link Error-Codes accordingly? How should a "normal" user ever be able to solve such an issue? Sometimes it seems to me that we're still in the late 90's ....!

    It took me a couple of tries but this finally worked. Thank you so much for finding a fix. I tried shutting down a couple of times to no avail but would go back and run it again and then make sure I did not click restart. I even went so far as to just trip the power strip once but that did not work either. Just keep hitting shutdown and it seems it will eventually work.

    I would still like to know what an 0x80240437 is but based on the report from the Fix It I am thinking it is a read/write or checksum error.

    This is what produces the error message in the Store. It is the result of a BITS job that is sent to Microsoft to get the update for the app.

    I've still got the issue but will continue to try the solution that seems to have worked for a number of people.

    I get this combination of messages for all the apps that I need to update or install.

    What is interesting from my previous post is the " BITS job {E453C5D0-8EE6-42D5-9A96-C2C6C3DD71ED} 403'd ". If the 403 in this message is an HTTP or HTTPS message then it means that the Microsoft server is not accepting my request to "get" the update.
