No! You should dump it immediately. Don't run it and don't let it do
anything.

Registry cleaning programs are all snake oil. Cleaning of the
registry isn't needed and is dangerous. Leave the registry alone and
don't use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and
what vendors of registry cleaning software try to convince you of,
having unused registry entries doesn't really hurt you.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner erroneously
removing an entry you need is far greater than any potential benefit
it may have.

Let me point out that neither I nor anyone else who warns against the
use of registry cleaners has ever said that they always cause
problems. If they always caused problems, they would disappear from
the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry
cleaner and never had a problem with it.

Rather, the problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it
the substantial risk of having a problem. And since there is no
benefit to using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad
bargain.

As with all these 'SpeedUpMyPc' type of programs as safe as holding a rattle snake by its tail

    Consider yourself one of the lucky ones.  When I installed it, I lost all ability to use my wireless printer.  It too me two days to get rid of RegCure and re-install all my wireless drivers.  That program cost me over a day's time to fix the problems it caused.

    But, when i used RegCure Pro it fixed most of all my pc problems.

    Hi Gary,

               Understand your frustration with PC problems, I sometimes wonder whether life would be a lot simpler without them. I have fairly basic computer skills and have used iolo System Mechanic for a few years to help keep my PC running smoothly. I have not , as far as I am aware had any problems with it. I have a fairly old Dell PC with Windows Vista Home Basic OS, and System Mechanic was recommended (?) by Dell, or at least offered a 'Tuneup'.

        I tried **** at a point where I was tearing my hair out with the constant freezes and glitches I was getting. It was late at night I think. **** popped up on a search and offered a free scan which flagged up a whole series of issues but I think had to get a sub to fix. I was so fed up at that moment that I went for it, which is exactly the scenario that these companies prey on. However I began to regret my decision once I had downloaded it and done a bit of research and read a few  MS community posts. It was in the end just a gut feeling that there wasn't something quite right about ****. (see my original posts).  I did manage to get a full refund. Eventually I discovered that a lot of the problems were caused by a lack of RAM on my PC.

        I am aware that some of the experienced MVP's have grave misgivings about Registry cleaners and the potential damage they might cause. iolo System Mechanic though is a fairly well known and established programme and company. A couple of its Registry cleaning components are also optional.

        There is also Piriform's CCleaner which has a free version I was going to try it but got a reduced offer from iolo so stuck with System Mechanic for another year.
