No! You should dump it immediately. Don't run it and don't let it do
anything.

Registry cleaning programs are all snake oil. Cleaning of the
registry isn't needed and is dangerous. Leave the registry alone and
don't use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and
what vendors of registry cleaning software try to convince you of,
having unused registry entries doesn't really hurt you.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner erroneously
removing an entry you need is far greater than any potential benefit
it may have.

Let me point out that neither I nor anyone else who warns against the
use of registry cleaners has ever said that they always cause
problems. If they always caused problems, they would disappear from
the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry
cleaner and never had a problem with it.

Rather, the problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it
the substantial risk of having a problem. And since there is no
benefit to using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad
bargain.

As with all these 'SpeedUpMyPc' type of programs as safe as holding a rattle snake by its tail

    Larry - I agree with you completely!!!!!!!

    I had 2 machines infected with 2 different bugs... One was a faux Windows virus alert warning that shows up as an icon in the system tray. After infecting it also prevents system restore. The other bug was some type of spammy BHO (AVG search assist) that hijacks the browser.

    (the price of letting your grand children browse the web)

    I tried to remove both of these problems using some very powerful tools...

    1- Malware Bytes

    2 - Kaspersky virus removal tool

    I tried both fixes in Normal, Safe Boot and CMD.... (Nothing worked)

    As a last ditch effort before a complete reinstall I tried Reg Cure Pro.

    BOOM! -- It killed both bugs first try.

    P.S. I am a professional user since 95 as a developer/designer/programmer.

    I have Reg Pro running on 4 machines and 3 laptops.

    Also use Avast Pro and Super Anti Spyware. 

    But at the end of the day "no software can replace common sense usage"... and like Dad use to say "use the correct tool to get the job done".

    ps: Now I keep a first generation iPad on hand for the grand kids. (Developed while Mr. Jobs was still alive) Hackers just aren't interested in penetrating a legacy Unix device! Plus you can use it for a frisbee and it still keeps on ticking. LOL.

    I don't advocate the use of CCleaner either, not any part of it. Windows tools will do the job.

    I have had to start over with client machines many times, sometimes monthly before I got them to stop using CCleaner and worse..

    Well... you made the point.

    Otherwise, just another warning for all persons who'd like to play with registry.

    DO NOT EVER TOUCH WINDOWS REGISTRY WITHOUT IT PROFESSIONAL ADVISES.

    I'm telling you this, just because of this little example I had today (everything is true), with one my of users :

    He complains that Outlook couldn't open and that Windows Installer was trying to load something... But obviously, it wasn't loading anything.

    I tried to fix his Windows Installer and his Office suite...

    I haven't been able to fix them...

    Why ? Simply because this user was a fan addict of CCleaner. He used it so many times, without really watching what he was doing, and without doing any backup of the removed keys, that he corrupted his windows registry.

    He has so much corrupted it, that now I can't repair it at all.

    My only solution now => re-imaging the computer from scratch.

    So again, please avoid touching registry without IT experts advises.
