No! You should dump it immediately. Don't run it and don't let it do
anything.

Registry cleaning programs are all snake oil. Cleaning of the
registry isn't needed and is dangerous. Leave the registry alone and
don't use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and
what vendors of registry cleaning software try to convince you of,
having unused registry entries doesn't really hurt you.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner erroneously
removing an entry you need is far greater than any potential benefit
it may have.

Let me point out that neither I nor anyone else who warns against the
use of registry cleaners has ever said that they always cause
problems. If they always caused problems, they would disappear from
the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry
cleaner and never had a problem with it.

Rather, the problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it
the substantial risk of having a problem. And since there is no
benefit to using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad
bargain.

    Excellent point.  That was the only reason I downloaded and installed the program - much to subsequent distress and anger.

    I downloaded and installed RegCure Pro to my Toshiba laptop running Windows 7.  The program immediately destroyed my ability to use my printer - a Brother MFC 6490CW.  To be able to get my printer working again, it took me two days of fighting the mess, deleting RegCure Pro, and re-installing my computer's software.  Also, 6 months later, I was automatically billed another $15!!!!  Adding injury to insult!!!  Somewhere in the fine print, it must have said it was an automatic renewal every 6 months - I was not aware of that when I bought the program.  This is a major rip off.  It did nothing to speed up my machine and destroyed some of my communications programming.  DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE!!!

    Lots of scaremongering going on here.

    First, only if you have a problem, then use CCleaner, don't use to periodically clean out the reg.

    Secondly, make sure you only delete what had been part of a previous uninstall, if you dont know what to look for, you should not be using a registry cleaner.

    Thirdly, only use the default cleaning settings, don't go and change any of the search parameters, leave them alone and it will not go too deep, but still check on what you are deleting.

    Fourth, you won't need a reg cleaner until your hard drive is getting full and the computer is noticeably slowing down in its boot up time. The registry will have next to no affect on your daily running of the computer or game playing, defragmenting and uninstalling old software, un-needed files etc will help speed you up, and MS have a plethora of programs to do that for you. (in fact, delete unneeded files first, then unneeded programs, then defrag the drive)

    CCleaner is fine for clearing up the desktop, but use the reg cleaner with extreme caution, or........use the inbuilt "save registry" option when you are about to delete stuff....or, save it yourself in the REGEDIT script, before using CCleaner.

    Effing around with the registry is like doing a DIY heart bypass using a mirror, some tweezers and a cordless drill.
