No! You should dump it immediately. Don't run it and don't let it do
anything.

Registry cleaning programs are all snake oil. Cleaning of the
registry isn't needed and is dangerous. Leave the registry alone and
don't use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and
what vendors of registry cleaning software try to convince you of,
having unused registry entries doesn't really hurt you.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner erroneously
removing an entry you need is far greater than any potential benefit
it may have.

Read http://www.edbott.com/weblog/archives/000643.html

and also

Let me point out that neither I nor anyone else who warns against the
use of registry cleaners has ever said that they always cause
problems. If they always caused problems, they would disappear from
the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry
cleaner and never had a problem with it.

Rather, the problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it
the substantial risk of having a problem. And since there is no
benefit to using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad
bargain.

    Hi Ken,

Thanks so much for your advice regarding RegCure Pro.  The only reason I went there in the first place was because I found it on a Miscrosoft site and when I saw the word: "recommended" I wrongly assumed the recommendation came from MS.  But just before I paid for anything, I checked out a review and found your advice, and I bailed out very quickly. Thank you.

On a completely separate issue, I have searched everywhere for a solution and cannot find one.  Hopefully, if you are reading this you will be able to help.

Subject:  Microsoft icons on my desktop.  Suddenly they changed - WORD, EXCEL AND OUTLOOK.

I just want to change them back to the icons I am familiar with. It's very irritating.

I hope you can help.  Thanks.

    Michael

Hi. This is my first time on this forum. For the last 2 weeks, I've been getting a blue screen with the error message: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL   ***tcpip.sys.  It's been happening more frequently the last few days. I did a multiple Google & YouTube searches on the problem & came across a video on YouTube channel: bluescreenfixpro & a message that RegCure Pro would resolve this problem. I clicked on the link & it at www.pc-health-guide.com & it took me to the RegCure Pro page where it offered a $20 discount on the software. I purchased the software for a discounted price of $9.95.

I was billed $39.95 with a disclosure that I would be automatically billed every 6 mos.  (**How come they didn't disclose this before I gave them my debit card number?)  The disclosure said I could cancel the 'automatic' renewal at any time, by logging onto the Safecart website.  I did so, and received 2 emails instructing me to activate the account, but when I tried, I got a message saying it couldn't activate my account.  I sent an email to them. Hopefully, this will resolve the 'automatic renewal' part of the problem.

I am VERY angry with PareTo Logic & have filed a fraud complaint with my bank. To activate the software, I had to call a number & speak to a live person in Boca Raton, FL. who said he needed my OK to take over my account & he spent alot of time with me going over the problems on my computer, telling me that I had 2GB of memory & a sound computer, but had alot of error messages in my System Configuration that couldn't be resolved via a software program.

I was asked if there was a Home Depot, Staples, or Best Buy near my home. I said Best Buy. I was told my computer needed a full system tune-up, a virus & infection sweep, download PC-MRI & get rid of my Malwarebytes program & that it would cost me $400-450 over 4-5 business days to do this..OR.. I could pay $250 right now & their certified techs would take care of the problem "right now". The rep was very pushy about my doing this & I told him that I was on disability & a fixed income & I did not have the financial ability to do this today.  He then asked me if I was over 55 & had AAA on my car & I said "yes". He then offered me a discounted price of $175.00 but that price was only good for today.

I told him I didn't have the money, and he kept pushing me asking if I had any friends or family I could borrow the money from TODAY.  I told him "No", that I would just go with what I paid for already.

The rep angrily said he would release my computer to me now & abruptly hung up on me. I am really upset that I've had to spend 1/2 the day today dealing with this matter. I've been scammed in the past, and the conversation I had with the RegCure rep left me feeling I've been duped yet again.
