Hello, I have a Samsung 7 series Chronos Laptop running on Windows 8. I have been having some issues with the microsoft store! It just has the store symbol and it does not even have the spinning thing in order to show that it is loading. I have tried restarting my laptop and opening it again but nothing seems to do it! Please help!

Hello Maheeb,

Welcome to Microsoft community where you will get best solutions for Windows related issues.

I understand that you have hard time opening Microsoft Store in Windows 8. I would definitely help you in fixing this issue.

Let us start with couple of questions:

1.       Which account are you using to login, Microsoft or Local account?

2.       Do you have proxy server enabled on Windows 8?

3.       Is the issue specific with Windows Store or with other applications as well?

Perform the following troubleshooting methods to fix the Store issues:

Method 1:

I would suggest you to run Windows 8 App troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

You can download the app troubleshooter form this link “Windows 8 App Troubleshooter”.

Method 2:

If you are using Microsoft account, then I would suggest you to switch to Local account and then check how the apps work.

Follow these steps to switch from Microsoft to Local account.

a.       Press “Windows key +W”.

b.      Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

c.       Then select “Users” from the left panel.

d.      You will get an option “Switch to a Local account” right below your user account name.

e.      Select “Switch to a local account” option.

f.        Enter the required details.

g.       Then login to the local account then check how the apps work.

If you are using Local account, then I would suggest you to switch to Microsoft account and then check how the apps work.

Follow these steps to switch from Local account to Microsoft account:

a.       Press “Windows key +W”.

b.      Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

c.       Then select “Users” from the left panel.

d.      Select “Switch to Microsoft account” right below your user account name.

e.      Enter the required details.

f.        Restart the computer and then try to login using new Microsoft account.

Method 3:

If that doesn’t work, then I would suggest you to create a new user account and then check how the apps work with new user account.

Follow these steps:

a.       Press “Windows Key + W”.

b.      Type Users in the search box and select “Users” option from the left panel.

c.       Select “Add Users” under “Other users” option.

d.      Add the user profile details.

e.      Then login to the new user account and then check if this fixes the issue.

I hope this helps you to fix the Store issue. If the issue persists or you have any other issues with Windows, please do post it in Microsoft Community. We would be happy to help you.

"restore, refresh, and reset" is the ultimate slap in the face from Microsoft. "yes our program is faulty and the only way to fix it is to delete everything on your computer"  Thanks for nothing Microsoft.

I didn't instal 8.1 because I read that there are problems with it. So I just updated 8. It downloaded the updates and after a while of deploying the update, it said "Update failed" and then it took it back to the pre-update condition. No further info was supplied. After a lot of web searching, I found the problem might be because I moved My Docs to another drive. So I moved My Docs back to the default drive, and then downloaded the updates again, and it worked. Unbelievable. You've got to keep everything on one drive or on the cloud for Win8 to work properly.

After updating 8, it forced me to go the the Store to see that Win8.1 is available. I declined that, of course. Then I saw you can't get MSE on Win8. Amazing.

Also, people say you can make all sorts of changes to stop Metro stuff popping up. Well, I made all those changes, but the Synaptics mouse still brings the Metro Charms thing out even though it's switched off in Classic Shell, and there's no way around it as far as I can tell. Anyway, the whole Win8 thing is a laughable debacle, imo.
