Hello Maheeb,

Welcome to Microsoft community where you will get best solutions for Windows related issues.

I understand that you have hard time opening Microsoft Store in Windows 8. I would definitely help you in fixing this issue.

Let us start with couple of questions:

1.       Which account are you using to login, Microsoft or Local account?

2.       Do you have proxy server enabled on Windows 8?

3.       Is the issue specific with Windows Store or with other applications as well?

Perform the following troubleshooting methods to fix the Store issues:

Method 1:

I would suggest you to run Windows 8 App troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

You can download the app troubleshooter form this link “Windows 8 App Troubleshooter”.

Method 2:

If you are using Microsoft account, then I would suggest you to switch to Local account and then check how the apps work.

Follow these steps to switch from Microsoft to Local account.

a.       Press “Windows key +W”.

b.      Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

c.       Then select “Users” from the left panel.

d.      You will get an option “Switch to a Local account” right below your user account name.

e.      Select “Switch to a local account” option.

f.        Enter the required details.

g.       Then login to the local account then check how the apps work.

If you are using Local account, then I would suggest you to switch to Microsoft account and then check how the apps work.

Follow these steps to switch from Local account to Microsoft account:

a.       Press “Windows key +W”.

b.      Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

c.       Then select “Users” from the left panel.

d.      Select “Switch to Microsoft account” right below your user account name.

e.      Enter the required details.

f.        Restart the computer and then try to login using new Microsoft account.

Method 3:

If that doesn’t work, then I would suggest you to create a new user account and then check how the apps work with new user account.

Follow these steps:

a.       Press “Windows Key + W”.

b.      Type Users in the search box and select “Users” option from the left panel.

c.       Select “Add Users” under “Other users” option.

d.      Add the user profile details.

e.      Then login to the new user account and then check if this fixes the issue.

I hope this helps you to fix the Store issue. If the issue persists or you have any other issues with Windows, please do post it in Microsoft Community. We would be happy to help you.

    Hello,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community forum.

This issue might occur if the Store app is corrupt.

I would suggest you to re-register Store app and check if it fixes the issue.

Run the below mentioned command to re-register Store app and the steps you may refer are provided below.

    1. Press Window key and X at the same time.
    2. Select Command prompt (Admin).
    3. Now for Store app, you can run the command

powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\News360\AppxManifest.xml

For more clarification you may refer to the below mentioned article.

Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, you can refer to the following steps to back the registry files on the computer:

    • Press Windows and R keys to open the run box.
    • Type ‘regedit’ and press Enter from the keyboard.
    • Open the file option on the menu bar.
    • Click on Export and save the file with a name on the desktop.
    • If you want to restore the file, you can do so by double clicking the file that you have saved on the desktop.

If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to provide the event viewer log files to find out the exact cause that is causing the issue.  Follow the steps to collect the log files:

    • Go to the Start Screen, type in Event Viewer. This will bring up the Event Viewer tile, Click to open the event viewer.
    • In the left pane, expand out Windows Logs. Click on Application log and highlight the first event in the log and use your arrow keys to scroll down.
    • Most of your event will be Information. You may see Yellow Warnings or Red Errors. If you see any red error, you can double click on it to bring it up and copy the contents to a document.

Hope this would do the trick. If issue still persists post back with current status of your computer and result of proposed suggestion, we will be glad to assist you.

    Regards.

I finally resolved this by resetting Internet Explorer settings:

Go to Search > Type: Internet Options > Click "Internet Options" > Click: "Advanced" (tab) > Click: "Reset" > Select checkbox: "Delete personal settings" > Click: "Reset"

After I tried everything suggested here and failed I started thinking as basic as possible. The Store is nothing more than a web browser formatted to look pretty and present apps for installation. When a web browser is having major issues then you reset Internet Explorer settings which typically resolves the major issue. This was no different. Once I reset Internet Explorer settings then the Store instantly worked.

    Hi

I am just another user who was facing the same problem and i don't know if the solution to your problem has been found but in my case the following simple thing worked:

    1. open file explorer
    2. open directory C:/Windows/System32
    3. there is an application in that folder named WSReset.exe
    4. Just run this exe file and you are all good to go.

This just clears the cache of store app and in my case i faced no further problems and everything worked well.

    good luck

    Madhav
