Hello Maheeb,

Welcome to Microsoft community where you will get best solutions for Windows related issues.

I understand that you have hard time opening Microsoft Store in Windows 8. I would definitely help you in fixing this issue.

Let us start with couple of questions:

1.       Which account are you using to login, Microsoft or Local account?

2.       Do you have proxy server enabled on Windows 8?

3.       Is the issue specific with Windows Store or with other applications as well?

Perform the following troubleshooting methods to fix the Store issues:

Method 1:

I would suggest you to run Windows 8 App troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

You can download the app troubleshooter form this link “Windows 8 App Troubleshooter”.

Method 2:

If you are using Microsoft account, then I would suggest you to switch to Local account and then check how the apps work.

Follow these steps to switch from Microsoft to Local account.

a.       Press “Windows key +W”.

b.      Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

c.       Then select “Users” from the left panel.

d.      You will get an option “Switch to a Local account” right below your user account name.

e.      Select “Switch to a local account” option.

f.        Enter the required details.

g.       Then login to the local account then check how the apps work.

If you are using Local account, then I would suggest you to switch to Microsoft account and then check how the apps work.

Follow these steps to switch from Local account to Microsoft account:

a.       Press “Windows key +W”.

b.      Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

c.       Then select “Users” from the left panel.

d.      Select “Switch to Microsoft account” right below your user account name.

e.      Enter the required details.

f.        Restart the computer and then try to login using new Microsoft account.

Method 3:

If that doesn’t work, then I would suggest you to create a new user account and then check how the apps work with new user account.

Follow these steps:

a.       Press “Windows Key + W”.

b.      Type Users in the search box and select “Users” option from the left panel.

c.       Select “Add Users” under “Other users” option.

d.      Add the user profile details.

e.      Then login to the new user account and then check if this fixes the issue.

I hope this helps you to fix the Store issue. If the issue persists or you have any other issues with Windows, please do post it in Microsoft Community. We would be happy to help you.

Every time I tried to connect to the Microsoft Store from my Windows 8 device, it would give me the message "Your PC isn't connected to the Internet.  To use the Store, connect to the Internet and then try again."  If I tried to open Internet Explorer I could browse the web, so I was definately connected.  It turned out that the time and date on my device were off by 1 month.  Once I fixed the time and date I was able to access the Microsoft Store with no other issues.

I am REALLY annoyed about not being able to do many different things all of a sudden.

When I tap on the following tiles:

    STORE

    WEATHER

    GAMES

    HEARTS

    SPADES

    CALENDAR

    MESSAGING

    MUSIC

I gave up after compiling this list simply sit and have the insipid circle go clockwise around and around and around and...

I did a complete new antivirus scan with Defender. I attempted to go to store without the firewall or the antivirus turned on

I did as Satish stated, and downloaded the app trouble shooter. It found two problems in the "security area", corrected if, but crashed Mozilla in the process.

I also made sure that I signed in at ******@local.rr.com when I rebooted, following his instructions

Since this is taking a while to compose, that weather tile I clicked on to get a more detailed forecast for my local area is still "spinning" there have been times when the tile for "store" sat  and spun for an entire session.

I appreciate your helping with this issue.

BTW why do I have to sign with username @local.rr.com?

    Hi,

Thank you for posting the issue in Microsoft Community.

A Microsoft account—an email address and password—is a new way to sign in to any PC running Windows 8 or Windows RT. When you sign in with a Microsoft account, your PC is connected to the cloud, and many of the settings, preferences, and apps associated with your account can "follow" you between different PCs.

Refer to these links to know more about Microsoft account login.

Your Microsoft account syncs favorites and settings on all your PCs

    Create a user account

I would suggest you to perform a Refresh of Windows 8 to fix all the issue.

Refer to the link “How to restore, refresh, or reset your PC” to know how to refresh Windows 8.

**Important:**Refreshing Windows 8 will remove all third party applications installed and it will reset all the Microsoft applications to default.

I hope this helps you to get the issue fixed. If the issue persists or you have any other issues with Windows, please do post it in Microsoft Community. We would be happy to help you.
