It just has the store symbol and it does not even have the spinning thing in order to show that it is loading. I have tried restarting my laptop and opening it again but nothing seems to do it! Please help!

Hello Maheeb,

Welcome to Microsoft community where you will get best solutions for Windows related issues.

I understand that you have hard time opening Microsoft Store in Windows 8. I would definitely help you in fixing this issue.

Let us start with couple of questions:

1.       Which account are you using to login, Microsoft or Local account?

2.       Do you have proxy server enabled on Windows 8?

3.       Is the issue specific with Windows Store or with other applications as well?

Perform the following troubleshooting methods to fix the Store issues:

Method 1:

I would suggest you to run Windows 8 App troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

You can download the app troubleshooter form this link “Windows 8 App Troubleshooter”.

Method 2:

If you are using Microsoft account, then I would suggest you to switch to Local account and then check how the apps work.

Follow these steps to switch from Microsoft to Local account.

a.       Press “Windows key +W”.

b.      Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

c.       Then select “Users” from the left panel.

d.      You will get an option “Switch to a Local account” right below your user account name.

e.      Select “Switch to a local account” option.

f.        Enter the required details.

g.       Then login to the local account then check how the apps work.

If you are using Local account, then I would suggest you to switch to Microsoft account and then check how the apps work.

Follow these steps to switch from Local account to Microsoft account:

a.       Press “Windows key +W”.

b.      Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

c.       Then select “Users” from the left panel.

d.      Select “Switch to Microsoft account” right below your user account name.

e.      Enter the required details.

f.        Restart the computer and then try to login using new Microsoft account.

Method 3:

If that doesn’t work, then I would suggest you to create a new user account and then check how the apps work with new user account.

Follow these steps:

a.       Press “Windows Key + W”.

b.      Type Users in the search box and select “Users” option from the left panel.

c.       Select “Add Users” under “Other users” option.

d.      Add the user profile details.

e.      Then login to the new user account and then check if this fixes the issue.

I hope this helps you to fix the Store issue. If the issue persists or you have any other issues with Windows, please do post it in Microsoft Community. We would be happy to help you.

Hello, I wish to report that my windows store is not working propely since 1 week. Not exactly sure, but it seems the store does not work properly since the launch of windows 10. Not sure if this is related on serverside issues. Never had one issue before a week a ago with the windows 8 store. Issue is that updtes are coming through, but they are hardly updating. The ... at the bottom of the titlebar keep rolling, but I don't see any app update progress bars appearing or running. Not even a restart of the computer helps. Sometimes it takes a wait and a couple of restarts before I notice the apps are updated. I hope this info helps to fix the problem.

Mine still is not working either.  I have tried every recommendation provided in this forum at least three times, including restoring my computer.  I have opened another Windows account to see if it was a problem with my first account (in response to the "stock" response #1 GLOGLOGEO's post).  I get no error messages/codes or spinning hourglasses - I click on the Store and nothing happens.  I have tried Sathish S V's recommendations and the result is no change.

The one thing I have not tried is a complete removal and re-install of Windows 8.0.  I purchased my laptop from Dell, and it did not include the Windows 8.0 disks (it was pre-installed).  Apparently, in that case, the Windows license sold to me was a bulk license and it doesn't hold the same rights as purchasing a stand-alone license.  At least that is what one of the Windows techs told me.

So, I am stuck with Windows 8.0, and since I cannot access the Windows Store, I am unable to upgrade to 8.1.  Windows does not appear to have any other option of getting the upgrade files to their customers other than through the Windows Store - at least that is what another of their techs told me and I have been unsuccessful at finding another source for 8.1.

    Pretty lame...
