Hello, I have a Samsung 7 series Chronos Laptop running on Windows 8. I have been having some issues with the microsoft store! It just has the store symbol and it does not even have the spinning thing in order to show that it is loading. I have tried restarting my laptop and opening it again but nothing seems to do it! Please help!

Hello Maheeb,

Welcome to Microsoft community where you will get best solutions for Windows related issues.

I understand that you have hard time opening Microsoft Store in Windows 8. I would definitely help you in fixing this issue.

Let us start with couple of questions:

1.       Which account are you using to login, Microsoft or Local account?

2.       Do you have proxy server enabled on Windows 8?

3.       Is the issue specific with Windows Store or with other applications as well?

Perform the following troubleshooting methods to fix the Store issues:

Method 1:

I would suggest you to run Windows 8 App troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

You can download the app troubleshooter form this link “Windows 8 App Troubleshooter”.

Method 2:

If you are using Microsoft account, then I would suggest you to switch to Local account and then check how the apps work.

Follow these steps to switch from Microsoft to Local account.

a.       Press “Windows key +W”.

b.      Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

c.       Then select “Users” from the left panel.

d.      You will get an option “Switch to a Local account” right below your user account name.

e.      Select “Switch to a local account” option.

f.        Enter the required details.

g.       Then login to the local account then check how the apps work.

If you are using Local account, then I would suggest you to switch to Microsoft account and then check how the apps work.

Follow these steps to switch from Local account to Microsoft account:

a.       Press “Windows key +W”.

b.      Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

c.       Then select “Users” from the left panel.

d.      Select “Switch to Microsoft account” right below your user account name.

e.      Enter the required details.

f.        Restart the computer and then try to login using new Microsoft account.

Method 3:

If that doesn’t work, then I would suggest you to create a new user account and then check how the apps work with new user account.

Follow these steps:

a.       Press “Windows Key + W”.

b.      Type Users in the search box and select “Users” option from the left panel.

c.       Select “Add Users” under “Other users” option.

d.      Add the user profile details.

e.      Then login to the new user account and then check if this fixes the issue.

I hope this helps you to fix the Store issue. If the issue persists or you have any other issues with Windows, please do post it in Microsoft Community. We would be happy to help you.

windows 8 is soooo dumb. we shouldn't have to "refresh" or "restore" windows to get one of the main components of this new "experience" to actually work properly.

I finally resolved my issue with the Windows Store and the prompt that I'm not connected to the internet.  I installed CCleaner from piriform.com and ran the analysis and cleanup tool.  I failed to capture all of the output to send to Microsoft (that was an afterthought) so they could review but all said and done, this ten minute exercise with CCleaner fixed my problem.  Others may want to try this until such time that Microsoft gives us a fix.  Good Luck!

I too just started having the problem where I get a prompt that says I'm not connected to the internet when trying to open the "Store".  I have confirmed that I am connected to the internet, have uninstalled my anti-virus and still not able to access the "Store".  Microsoft, please address this and put out a fix.  This is very frustrating.  I think I will be purchasing a MAC in the near future.  My son has an Apple laptop (2 years old) and he never has issues!  I've had to reinstall Windows 8 twice now due to problems (slow PC, hung apps, etc...) and it costs me a couple days of productivity, not to mention the headache and frustration.  Microsoft, please get your act together...  Thanks...
