Hello, I have a Samsung 7 series Chronos Laptop running on Windows 8. I have been having some issues with the microsoft store! It just has the store symbol and it does not even have the spinning thing in order to show that it is loading. I have tried restarting my laptop and opening it again but nothing seems to do it! Please help!

Hello Maheeb,

Welcome to Microsoft community where you will get best solutions for Windows related issues.

I understand that you have hard time opening Microsoft Store in Windows 8. I would definitely help you in fixing this issue.

Let us start with couple of questions:

1.       Which account are you using to login, Microsoft or Local account?

2.       Do you have proxy server enabled on Windows 8?

3.       Is the issue specific with Windows Store or with other applications as well?

Perform the following troubleshooting methods to fix the Store issues:

Method 1:

I would suggest you to run Windows 8 App troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

You can download the app troubleshooter form this link “Windows 8 App Troubleshooter”.

Method 2:

If you are using Microsoft account, then I would suggest you to switch to Local account and then check how the apps work.

Follow these steps to switch from Microsoft to Local account.

a.       Press “Windows key +W”.

b.      Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

c.       Then select “Users” from the left panel.

d.      You will get an option “Switch to a Local account” right below your user account name.

e.      Select “Switch to a local account” option.

f.        Enter the required details.

g.       Then login to the local account then check how the apps work.

If you are using Local account, then I would suggest you to switch to Microsoft account and then check how the apps work.

Follow these steps to switch from Local account to Microsoft account:

a.       Press “Windows key +W”.

b.      Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

c.       Then select “Users” from the left panel.

d.      Select “Switch to Microsoft account” right below your user account name.

e.      Enter the required details.

f.        Restart the computer and then try to login using new Microsoft account.

Method 3:

If that doesn’t work, then I would suggest you to create a new user account and then check how the apps work with new user account.

Follow these steps:

a.       Press “Windows Key + W”.

b.      Type Users in the search box and select “Users” option from the left panel.

c.       Select “Add Users” under “Other users” option.

d.      Add the user profile details.

e.      Then login to the new user account and then check if this fixes the issue.

I hope this helps you to fix the Store issue. If the issue persists or you have any other issues with Windows, please do post it in Microsoft Community. We would be happy to help you.

I got this POS to work by:

    Uninstalling the Store app

    Reboot (Windows norm!)

Log in with your Microsoft account.

Reinstall the Store app and ensure that you can browse the store.

Go back to Start and uninstall every app which does not work. This is ok as they will all show up in the store as "purchased but not installed." Reinstall them one-by-one. (I chose to not re-install many of the **** apps that came with my VAIO.)

The store and all of the re-installed apps should work.

I also took the opportunity of the cleaned-up start screen to reorganize and group the apps before doing all of the re-installs.

This only works on apps from the Store, but those are the only ones not working for me.

I have tried all three methods declared above and still no access to the store.  Each time I click on the Windows Store icon I consistently obtain the same experience:

       the image flips

goes to a full screen for about 2 seconds

then goes back to the START MENU

My laptop is less than 6 months old and the Windows8 license is an OEM license from ASUS.

I have tried ASUS tech support and they directed me to Microsoft being this is a Microsoft issue.

I am desperately trying hard to not move over to a MAC.

What do you suggest as next steps Mr. Microsoft?

It is pretty obvious that Windows 8 was not ready for release.

However, we now have all of these problems and your proposed solution is to do something which will remove everything that has been installed on the user's computer.  This might be acceptable for the telephone device for which W8 was obviously designed but for my PC, with many installed programs that actually make it useful, that is an absurd suggestion.
