It just has the store symbol and it does not even have the spinning thing in order to show that it is loading. I have tried restarting my laptop and opening it again but nothing seems to do it! Hello Maheeb,

Welcome to Microsoft community where you will get best solutions for Windows related issues.

I understand that you have hard time opening Microsoft Store in Windows 8. I would definitely help you in fixing this issue.

Let us start with couple of questions:

1.       Which account are you using to login, Microsoft or Local account?

2.       Do you have proxy server enabled on Windows 8?

3.       Is the issue specific with Windows Store or with other applications as well?

Perform the following troubleshooting methods to fix the Store issues:

Method 1:

I would suggest you to run Windows 8 App troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

You can download the app troubleshooter form this link “Windows 8 App Troubleshooter”.

Method 2:

If you are using Microsoft account, then I would suggest you to switch to Local account and then check how the apps work.

Follow these steps to switch from Microsoft to Local account.

a.       Press “Windows key +W”.

b.      Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

c.       Then select “Users” from the left panel.

d.      You will get an option “Switch to a Local account” right below your user account name.

e.      Select “Switch to a local account” option.

f.        Enter the required details.

g.       Then login to the local account then check how the apps work.

If you are using Local account, then I would suggest you to switch to Microsoft account and then check how the apps work.

Follow these steps to switch from Local account to Microsoft account:

a.       Press “Windows key +W”.

b.      Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

c.       Then select “Users” from the left panel.

d.      Select “Switch to Microsoft account” right below your user account name.

e.      Enter the required details.

f.        Restart the computer and then try to login using new Microsoft account.

Method 3:

If that doesn’t work, then I would suggest you to create a new user account and then check how the apps work with new user account.

Follow these steps:

a.       Press “Windows Key + W”.

b.      Type Users in the search box and select “Users” option from the left panel.

c.       Select “Add Users” under “Other users” option.

d.      Add the user profile details.

e.      Then login to the new user account and then check if this fixes the issue.

I hope this helps you to fix the Store issue. If the issue persists or you have any other issues with Windows, please do post it in Microsoft Community. We would be happy to help you.

First 8.1 didn't appear in store. So the net advice was to update first. Then Windows said there was a problem updating. They gave kb2871389 as the solution to make 8.1 appear in the store. Now I have the same problem as others here - Store stuck with the revolving thing.

Nothing but problems. How can it be so hard to simply make Store work or update the o/s???????????

MS is losing the plot. And while I'm about it Win8 is a joke. Full screen apps take over, which also means I can't see a data feed in my desktop taskbar. And there are a million other hassles.

Edit: After a restart, it mysteriously started working - 8.1 now showing in Store. ;)

I  have to agree here, I can't DL  8.1 through  the Store,  and am about to do a full  backup  and  go  back  to Win 7.  Toss  W8  into  some dark corner of  my  closet and recommend to friends not to buy it.

one of the tiles that does not work is "change pc settings"  it returns a monochrome screen.

I have tried sfc/scannow, checked times and date, loaded the most recent 8.1 video driver and several other things from the boards. I spent several hours under Microsoft support control. Nothing has worked.

I would be gateful like to hear any additional suggestions.

"I would suggest you to perform a Refresh of Windows 8 to fix all the issue.

Refer to the link “How to restore, refresh, or reset your PC” to know how to refresh Windows 8.

Important: Refreshing Windows 8 will remove all third party applications installed and it will reset all the Microsoft applications to default."

    NOT A SOLUTION!!!
