Installed this today, it caused my Poppeeper to be flagged with a -1000 error. Rolled computer back and problem cured. Have hidden update until i know what to do.

YMMV but...

...Microsoft is aware of an issue some customers are experiencing when installing KB2670838 on certain laptop systems with hybrid graphics. We are looking into the situation and are considering blocking the update for systems that could be affected. Customers who are experiencing issues on systems that already have installed the update should consider uninstalling KB2670838.

In the near future (one assumes), Microsoft should begin offering home users (only!) no-charge support for IE10 install and uninstall issues. You also may be eligible for the support if an IE10-related issue causes your computer to crash or if IE10 does
 not let you browse all sites. For now, however, you're on your own so you're best bet is to hide IE10 (*and KB2670838 IMHO*) & stick with IE9 for the time being.

    Again, ignoring the facts, even if you're an MVP, doesn't change the facts that this thread was about INSTALLED WIN APPLICATIONS AND NOT WEB APPLICATIONS.

    ATI CATALYST

    XARA PHOTO & GRAPHICS

    ACTIVTEST (.NET 2.0 Win Forms application)

    All are not working after installing this KB26708380.

    This did not happen when IE9, 8 OR 7 were released.   IE update or upgrade should be irrelevant anyway to other installed applications.  I think the EU settled that in a class action suit.  

    MS needs to take responsibility for changing the goal posts on the Win 7 platform.

    There will not be a "one size fits all" resolution for such problems.

    It's the responsbility of the third-party software providers to make sure their applications are IE10-compatible, not Microsoft's.

    Tip: There's a reason that IE10 is offered as an Optional, non-security update - even if it is classified as an Important update.

    PS: Even at this late date, Microsoft still hasn't started offering installation or program compatibility support for IE10. When IE9 (and IE8 & even IE7) were released to Windows Update, such support was offered within six weeks. Go figure...
