It has to sync with the music subscription or it is a waste.
XBox Music Pass compatible MP3 players
I need a specific question answered. I will ask it two ways:
1) What are some examples of a XBox Music Pass compatible MP3 player (besides a computer, Xbox, tablet, or Windows phone)? Remember, the Zune no longer exists. I want to jog/exercise without wearing my phone in an armband on my bicep.
or
2) If I subscribe to the Music Pass, can I use Windows Media Player to synchronize "subscribed/DRM'ed songs" to a MP3 player? I understand the difference between "purchased" and "subscribed" and DRM and non-DRM. I figure there's a time-limited license that could be uploaded to the MP3, or something.
Look, I don't want to jog with this big WP8 phone attached to my arm. Nor do I want to put it in a fanny pack. That's just gross.

2015-01-02T01:39:53+00:00 I agree with you. I found your post looking for the same device to use with my XBox subscription for exercise. Microsoft left a void for customer to fill with other products that want one device or service for all uses. Microsoft has been making big strides but they seem to miss some obviously important services.
Apple nailed this with their iPod family, phones, etc. Now when I want music without jogging with my Lumia phone I'm screwed, I have to go to an Apple product. I want an entire ecosystem, not 2/3's of one. I can't think of an Android solution either. There is no point in having an XBox subcription, which is not intuitive or user friendly at Microsoft thinks, and having to use iTunes for music to exercise.
Why on earth would Microsoft use the XBox brand for music when it is synonymous with their gaming console? Now it is XBox Music, XBox Video, XBox gaming, etc. It is like a whole new brand instead of Microsoft. If nothing else, just call it XBox, like Apple just refers to iTunes.
I'm going to cancel my XBox subscription now and buy an Apply Shuffle for my iTunes account which I never cancelled.
This is ridiculous, honestly. Your iTunes account doesn't give you unlimited access to music you can download. The music you loaded into iTunes is stuff you bought or loaded from other sources with no copy protection.
If you want that, then you can just buy the MP3s from Xbox Music and load them onto whatever.

2015-01-02T03:24:56+00:00 I don't like this situation. I want an automated service not something I have to manually deal with to update and sync. It is far from the same thing. I want Microsoft to be my platform but they have fallen short on equipment for this market segment which is important to many Microsoft customers. Xbox is also less intuitive and capable in my opinion but a good improvement over Zoon.

2015-01-21T06:25:43+00:00 This is so true, I moved to MS centric devices, Surface, Windows Phone, Win8 laptop, etc. but can't fine a MS replacement for my Nano. I'm stuck maintaining iTunes and Xbox Music. I need a small music device for workouts and backpacking. Why Microsoft stopped supporting this segment of the market I can't understand.
