Helllo,

yesterday (2013-02-28) I installed the update KB2670838 as sugested by the notice.

Afterwards I have a blue screen when using IE9.

The problem came up just after the selection of some text in IE 9 ...

and every time i tried to do so...

I tried many times with diferent programs by selecting any text and the problem wasn't there...

I tried other browsers and selecting wasn't a problem...

The file pointed out in the blue screen as responsible for the crash was igdpmd64.sys

said to be related with the Intel graphics card.

After looking here and there in forums and advices i decided to look for recent updates

and i noticed the one of Yesterday on graphical matters.

I removed it and hellas... now it is working well.

For information and for advice because the update is said to be advisable to be installed.

Try removing KB2670838. It is currently causing many problems. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Remove-an-update

To hide the update to prevent it reinstalling select Start, All Programs, Windows Update, Check for Updates. When the list of available updates appears right click on KB2670838 and select Hide.

This also had an issue with Flash  running on IE9. For some reason when I installed this update I lost Flash. I tried to update to IE10 to see if that helped but nothing work. No Flash and occasional igdpmd64.sys blue screens.

After removing the KB2670838 update and hiding it all works fine.

    Thanks!

    Gerry Cornell, you're a legend.

This issue completely messed up my work programme for the week-end, I figured it must be related to the Friday evening Microsoft update, and your feedback has confirmed it and provided a solution that works.

    I have a HP Probook 4530s 64-bit on Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 9.

IE crashed with a blue screen every time I selected text on the displayed web-page.

Removing update KB2670838 has fixed the problem thank you.

As david-clsu noted, there will be many thousands of HP notebook owners whose IE will have crashed over the week-end.

    Many thanks guys

I am much too cheap to visit a computer doctor.

The exact same problem has been plaguing my HP DV7  every 10 minutes for the last 2 days.

I finally found a thread with the cure.

    Thanks!
