Helllo,

yesterday (2013-02-28) I installed the update KB2670838 as sugested by the notice.

Afterwards I have a blue screen when using IE9.

The problem came up just after the selection of some text in IE 9 ...

and every time i tried to do so...

I tried many times with diferent programs by selecting any text and the problem wasn't there...

I tried other browsers and selecting wasn't a problem...

The file pointed out in the blue screen as responsible for the crash was igdpmd64.sys

said to be related with the Intel graphics card.

After looking here and there in forums and advices i decided to look for recent updates

and i noticed the one of Yesterday on graphical matters.

I removed it and hellas... now it is working well.

For information and for advice because the update is said to be advisable to be installed.

Try removing KB2670838. It is currently causing many problems. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Remove-an-update

To hide the update to prevent it reinstalling select Start, All Programs, Windows Update, Check for Updates. When the list of available updates appears right click on KB2670838 and select Hide.

Hi, can I still use internet explorer 11.?

The updates included in KB2670838 are required for IE10 and hence IE11. If they are not installed, they will be installed when you install IE10 or IE11. If this causes the system crash, your graphics card can't cope with them using the drivers you have installed. You need either new drivers or, if none are available, a new card.

Hi, can I still use internet explorer 11.? Cause every time I remove this update it takes me back to the outdated internet explorer 9. Cause the blue screen appears again when I reinstall Internet explorer 11. Can ie11 work with out the update KB2670838.? Cause even when I remove idgpmd64.sys I can still use ie11 but it removes the video driver cards though. Is there any other way around this cause I just did a fresh reinstall of Windows 7 already.

    Same problem except Windows 10

It can't possibly be the same problem. KB2670838 was released two and a half years ago to prepare Windows 7 machines for the introduction of Internet Explorer 10.
