Poor font rendering in Windows 8 (blurry text)

Apparently there is a huge problem with **** font rendering in Windows 8. Text appears very blurry. Programs affected by the new rendering are: Internet Explorer 10, the modern interface (start screen), Office 2013 and other 3rd party applications that rely on this rendering technology. There is no way to fix this problem, unless Microsoft recognizes it.

In windows 8.1, it was fixed everywhere except IE's rendering engine; however IE's rendering engine is used by a number of system components including all of metro so this is no fix at all.

I have the same problem in IE 11 and all Office 2013 x64 programs. Very frustrating! Tried everything from this thread but nothing seems to work.

Intel HD-4000 graphics with newest driver

2 x Dell U2312HM monitors.

Hello, just tried this solution on our Win8.1u and seems to have resolved the blurry text:

Basically you go to Display settings and check the

"Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays"

It did indeed solve most of it. Especially in Outlook 2013, but not completely in Internet Explorer 11. Text still looks kind of compressed in IE but better than before setting the "Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays".
