Poor font rendering in Windows 8 (blurry text)

Apparently there is a huge problem with **** font rendering in Windows 8. Text appears very blurry. Programs affected by the new rendering are: Internet Explorer 10, the modern interface (start screen), Office 2013 and other 3rd party applications that rely on this rendering technology. There is no way to fix this problem, unless Microsoft recognizes it.

    Sad that this has gone to sleep without any hint of a fix from Microsoft.

    I fixed it by going back to Windows 7. No screen problems at all now....

    I fixed this problem switching the option "Make text and other items larger or smaller".

    First I changed to 125% and applied, then I moved back to 100% and the problem is gone.

    Surprising that Microsoft release an OS with such a basic problem and do not rush to fix when the first posts came out. 

    This kind of issue (and many users had it) jeopardize the whole experience. Fortunately I found this fix last week... I was on the way to downgrade to Windows 7, then I decided to give Win 8 another chance.

    Thank you! I will try that. It's time for me to upgrade to 8.1, maybe that will help too.

    In windows 8.1, it was fixed everywhere except IE's rendering engine; however IE's rendering engine is used by a number of system components including all of metro so this is no fix at all.
