Poor font rendering in Windows 8 (blurry text)

Apparently there is a huge problem with **** font rendering in Windows 8. Text appears very blurry. Programs affected by the new rendering are: Internet Explorer 10, the modern interface (start screen), Office 2013 and other 3rd party applications that rely on this rendering technology. There is no way to fix this problem, unless Microsoft recognizes it.

    It certainly doesn't work for me.

    MS has said that it intetnitonally changed the way it renders fonts (involving grey-scale antialiasing)presumably to minimize different fonts for phones vs tablets vs PCs. Unfortunately, it renders fonts less well in many cases. Things are even worse if the latest graphics drivers aren't used. MS has said it has no intention of changing its current font rendering. But use the latest drivers and you wont change the way MS is rendering fonts.

    Cleartype assumes none of these issues exist. In fact, use of Cleartype can make things look worse, depending on your particular set up, as has been noted above.

    I am using the latest driver.

    If I disable Cleartype the screen text will be total unreadable, so I rather stick with 'just bad'...

    We know that MS has, in certain applications such as IE, Office 2013 and some Modern UI apps, deliberately forced blurry grey-scale anti-aliasing upon users/customers.

    The sad part is that even though the change has ruined the Windows experience for many customers, MS stubbornly refuse to even acknowledge the problem, let alone lift a finger to do anything about it.

    Hello,

    I've had this same issue before. So I applied the fix in here: http://www.askvg.com/fix-bold-blurry-or-hard-to-read-font-problem-in-windows-8-1/ and now it doesn't reproduce anymore! :D

    Basically, you need to check the "Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays" checkbox in "Screen resolution" context menu, "Make text and other items larger or smaller"

    LE: Hmm, it seems on facebook it still reproduces :(
