Poor font rendering in Windows 8 (blurry text)

Apparently there is a huge problem with **** font rendering in Windows 8. Text appears very blurry. Programs affected by the new rendering are: Internet Explorer 10, the modern interface (start screen), Office 2013 and other 3rd party applications that rely on this rendering technology. There is no way to fix this problem, unless Microsoft recognizes it.

I 've gathered links bellow that refer to the same problem to highlight its importance and display the number of users that are affected:

What I got back from Microsoft was:

"Thank you for contacting Microsoft Customer Service.

For this kind of concern, please contact our Microsoft Support Professional at 1-800-936-5700. They are open Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM (PST); Saturday and Sunday, 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM (PST).  They can provide you better assistance on this issue.

Please let me know if you have other concerns.

    Thank you,

    [poor, innocent MS worker]

Microsoft Customer Service Representative .. Meet the new Windows 8"

I am not going to call them from the UK. Least of all since there is no solution. But If more people send a request for support to

    https://support.microsoft.com/contactus/emailcontact.aspx?scid=sw;en;1539

they may begin to wake up.

It is so hard to break through their turtle shell when they have their head, feet and tail tucked in.

    Jamie,

I also contacted MS as you suggested:

Text in IE10 and Office 2013 is so blurry and headache inducing I cannot use these products at all.

I had to revert to Windows 7 and Office 2010 to get clear text so I could use my PC.

Please advise if anything is being done about this font rendering issue.

Clearly, the Customer Service Rep cannot even be bothered reading the thread as I requested.

If she had read it, she would not have provided such a ridiculous canned response.

What hope have you got when you get a mindless response like this?

    Hello Guys,

I had same issue: blurry text in IE10 and office 365. OS = Win 8 pro.

So I decided to get rid of IE and use office 2010 instead of Office 365.

I think There is only one chance that MS will start taking steps to resolve these issues, ONCE THEY EXPERIENCE SALES DECLINE from office 365 product. My decision was not to buy Office because of this issue. I don't believe any messages from users to support service to take any effect to MS.. since this problem lasts since beta of the new office was released. I hope MS will do something with this, i like Windows and don't really want to change OS

When I am attaching a file, it goes to the new Windows 8 file browser, the text is blurry.  When I use any apps that are specific to Windows 8, all the text and images are blurry.  I have had my Lenovo laptop for a year now.  It came with windows 8 64-bit.  It has an AMD 10 processor and AMD Radeon HD graphics card.  A few weeks ago I used the "people" app that my computer came with and when i opened it i noticed all the text had a decaying look to it, but when i closed the app most other apps began to show the same effect.

I dont know if its the same issue anyone else is having but i know its an issue nontheless.  Even in-browser on the Sky drive you can see the problem on all three pictures. I am not unfamiliar with my computer or graphics card, but none of the settings i change are doing anything.

It looks a new variation on the theme if it all changed when you used "people". The problem you are left with seems an appallingly common experience though, which Microsoft do not deign to acknowledge.

You could try contacting Microsoft customer service, https://support.microsoft.com/contactus/emailcontact.aspx?scid=sw;en;1539 though do not get your hopes up (see above from Dr Geek and me).

    Good luck
