Poor font rendering in Windows 8 (blurry text)

Apparently there is a huge problem with **** font rendering in Windows 8. Text appears very blurry. Programs affected by the new rendering are: Internet Explorer 10, the modern interface (start screen), Office 2013 and other 3rd party applications that rely on this rendering technology. There is no way to fix this problem, unless Microsoft recognizes it.

    I agree, Office 2013 is unusable in this state. How can anyone buy it is beyond me. Is there any sort of official acknowledgement/reply on this? Or is Microsoft ignoring user feedback completely?

    I have not seen any official acknowledgment of this serious problem by Microsoft.

    The deafening silence on the issue indicates to me that Microsoft are determined to ignore the issue and ignore their customers.

    For me the problem is Office 2013. I don't have Windows 8 and I used Firefox, but the font is so blurry in Office 2013 that I had to go back to Office 2010. I was really looking forward to using the new features of Offic 2013, but get a headache from the blurry font. Waisted money so far, unless Windows or Office tries to fix this. Why aren't they doing anything?

    True.

     

    The problem is even worse in Office 2013 than IE10.

     

    I tried Office 2013 on Windows 7 and still the font rendering was terrible, so I had to roll back to Office 2010.

     

    At least IE10 on Windows 7 is usable, although still not as clear as Firefox and Opera. 

    I second that Office 2013 fonts are absolutely terrible

    I was hoping to go back to Windows 7 and keep Office 2013 as I thought it was Windows 8 causing the problem, but it looks like that is a dead end as well.
