Poor font rendering in Windows 8 (blurry text)

Apparently there is a huge problem with **** font rendering in Windows 8. Text appears very blurry. Programs affected by the new rendering are: Internet Explorer 10, the modern interface (start screen), Office 2013 and other 3rd party applications that rely on this rendering technology. There is no way to fix this problem, unless Microsoft recognizes it.

I 've gathered links bellow that refer to the same problem to highlight its importance and display the number of users that are affected:

I just found a link where you can report problems online to Microsoft Customer Service - though there are many different programs it may fall under.

    https://support.microsoft.com/contactus/emailcontact.aspx?scid=sw;en;1539

I reported it as "blurry text" under "Windows" for "Windows 8 (& IE10, Office 2013)", and included a link to this page as illustrating my problem.

I will let you know if I get a reply, but in the mean time, it takes 3 minutes to fill in the form. If we all write in they might notice there is an issue.

New Blog: Continuing the Windows 8 vision with Windows 8.1

These links are irrelevant to this thread.

They are just Microsoft propaganda used in a feeble attempt to divert attention from the font rendering issue.

They give no clue as to whether Microsoft have even recognized the terrible font rendering as a problem, let alone done anything about fixing it.

Has anyone with a bright, shiny new Win 8 computer reported this to their OEM (HP,Lenovo,ASUS)? If it is a new machine, I'm sure you have a warranty.

FWIW I have the same issue on my notebook. I Get fuzzy ugly text in internet explorer and on certain Stat menu screens, such as PC settings.

What is interesting is that when I first bought the notebook there was no issue. The font was fine. Same IE version.

But, due to a 'store setup' issue that resulted in a lot of storage being accidentally not available, I had to do a complete clean reinstall of Windows 8.

After doing so, presto, font issue with IE and certain win 8 screens. Tried everything to fix but to no avail.

Until I can find a fix, just have to use another browser.

This issue varies from one monitor to another. For example, text appears better in my laptop than in my desktop (still not great). I also noted that fonts seem to get better if you change the viewing angle of your monitor (read my older posts). So actually it is some sort of calibration problem. Maybe for some users changing the monitor settings fixes it. But of course, Microsoft should provide a more universal solution.
