I will be trying out Windows 8.1 tonight. If this problem is not fixed with the new scaling options they are supposedly adding then I will be permanently deleting my Windows 8 partition and will stay with Windows 7/Office 2010 until Windows 9. I will report back with my results.
Poor font rendering in Windows 8 (blurry text)
Apparently there is a huge problem with **** font rendering in Windows 8. Text appears very blurry. Programs affected by the new rendering are: Internet Explorer 10, the modern interface (start screen), Office 2013 and other 3rd party applications that rely on this rendering technology. There is no way to fix this problem, unless Microsoft recognizes it.
I 've gathered links bellow that refer to the same problem to highlight its importance and display the number of users that are affected:

2013-06-26T19:32:52+00:00 "The issue mainly effects users who are using low ppi display"
My resolution is 1920 x 1080. Is that low ppi?

2013-06-26T19:26:14+00:00 The issue mainly effects users who are using low ppi display. MS cancelled the Cleartype on Modern UI and IE 10 because it works only on one direction --- which is useless for tablets. When your PPI is high(most new tablets has high ppi), it doesn't matter. The text is still sharp and clear. But for minions of normal laptop users, the blur is unbearable, especially for east-asian language users.
The solutions is quite simple: make cleartype as an option in Modern UI.

2013-06-24T08:05:40+00:00 It looks a new variation on the theme if it all changed when you used "people". The problem you are left with seems an appallingly common experience though, which Microsoft do not deign to acknowledge.
You could try contacting Microsoft customer service, https://support.microsoft.com/contactus/emailcontact.aspx?scid=sw;en;1539 though do not get your hopes up (see above from Dr Geek and me).
Good luck

2013-06-23T01:21:33+00:00 When I am attaching a file, it goes to the new Windows 8 file browser, the text is blurry. When I use any apps that are specific to Windows 8, all the text and images are blurry. I have had my Lenovo laptop for a year now. It came with windows 8 64-bit. It has an AMD 10 processor and AMD Radeon HD graphics card. A few weeks ago I used the "people" app that my computer came with and when i opened it i noticed all the text had a decaying look to it, but when i closed the app most other apps began to show the same effect.
I dont know if its the same issue anyone else is having but i know its an issue nontheless. Even in-browser on the Sky drive you can see the problem on all three pictures. I am not unfamiliar with my computer or graphics card, but none of the settings i change are doing anything.
