This thread is so long, so excuse me for repeating existing information. For you it doesn't work, but for some it does.
Anyway, I've reinstalled the video driver after doing the "so-called fix" and it seems that at least for now the problem is gone.
PS: I need to mention that I have UPGRADED from Windows 8, rather than doing a clean install, so that might be a factor for the problem/fix.
PPS: I am not a Microsoft shill, whatever that be :)
