Poor font rendering in Windows 8 (blurry text)

Apparently there is a huge problem with **** font rendering in Windows 8. Text appears very blurry. Programs affected by the new rendering are: Internet Explorer 10, the modern interface (start screen), Office 2013 and other 3rd party applications that rely on this rendering technology. There is no way to fix this problem, unless Microsoft recognizes it.

I went with Windows 8 on my new laptop. I'm generally happy with "desktop" part of it - I was able to turn the font smoothing off. I have Office 2010.

Tiles on a non-touch machine with keyboard and a mouse are about as useful as nipples on a man.

Well they can "see the needs of users", but cannot "improve the quality of IE" or anything else by meeting these needs.

It is remarkable that the link http://connect.microsoft.com/IE/feedback/details/803978/blurry-text is closed - so no further comment is allowed.

What utter rubbish.

I need something better than Microsoft. Chrome is certainly growing on me. What about a nice Chromebook?
