Poor font rendering in Windows 8 (blurry text)

Apparently there is a huge problem with **** font rendering in Windows 8. Text appears very blurry. Programs affected by the new rendering are: Internet Explorer 10, the modern interface (start screen), Office 2013 and other 3rd party applications that rely on this rendering technology. There is no way to fix this problem, unless Microsoft recognizes it.

    I bought a new desktop with Windows 8 installed, and images on the monitor were crisp for 4 days, until after I changed some privacy settings in Chrome and Mozilla web browsers last night.  I cannot understand how there can possibly be any connection between my altering those settings and the images being blurred, but I'm wishing I had left them alone.  I guess there's nothing I can do now?

    Interesting.

    On my machine IE10 on Windows 7 is much clearer than it is on Windows 8.

    I can see how on a 27 inch 1920x1080 monitor it may be a problem because of the large pixel size.

    I agree it is not as clear as Firefox (my main browser).

    It is relatively easy to change back to IE9 or IE8 as both are available on the MS website.

    I'll definitely make sure not to use IE10 with Win 7 as well.  Ah, I have Win Vista + Win 7 Upgrade from my previous computer that was fried when my house suffered a direct lightning hit.  Unfortunately, I already recycled that computer never realizing that I would need the product key pasted on its side.  Hoping that what appears to be the product key on the sticker attached to the CD sleeve is in fact the key that will work with this software.

    Sorry, but the problem exists definitely in Windows 7 with IE10.

    I have changed all the terrible font settings to the ones used in XP, so Windows itself is clear. Only the IE10 makes this problem.

    Thank you Dr Geek.  I just read that Microsoft is reinstating at least some kind of Start Button in its upcoming Win 8.1.  I hope they address the far more serious problem that it created with its fuzzy fonts in Win 8.  When I think about, I believe that it was unconscionable that Dell sold me a $1,000 desktop without letting me know of the font problem.  I already have a 24 inch monitor.  Can you imagine those that purchase a 27 inch monitor with Win 8?
