Error “Windows\System32\Atibtmon.exe Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library”.

this really worked for me. Thanks. Now I need to find out how to get my CD/DVD drive to come back after Windows 10.   I want to see if I can find a solution before I decide to go back to Window 7.

thank you very much I was able to fix the problem with Method 2 after I try one and it did not work on my laptop so I try the second one and down loaded Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)  and it worked. the link was great....thank you, Thank you.....no one knew what to do at work or in the shop....Miguel Miranda from New York,,

From your issue description, I understand that you are receiving the error “Windows\System32\Atibtmon.exe Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library”. Please let me know if you are not facing this issue.

Note: atibtmon.exe is an Adobe Acrobat Update Service.

Before we proceed with troubleshooting, I would need little information on the issue.

1. When do you exactly receive the error? For Example: when you login to desktop, when you try to run the program, etc.
2. What is the exact or complete error message?
3. Did you install "Adobe Acrobat program" in the computer?

Try the general troubleshooting methods and check after each method:

Method 1: Start the computer in “Clean boot”, to disable startup programs.

a)      Press the ‘Windows + R’ key on the keyboard.

b)      In the ‘Run’ windows type ’MSCONFIG’ and click ‘Ok’.

c)      Click the ‘Boot’ tab and uncheck ‘Safe Boot’ option.

d)      On the ‘General’ tab, click to select the option ‘Selective startup’, and then click to clear the option Load startup items check box.

e)      On the ‘Services’ tab, click to select the ‘Hide all Microsoft services’ check box, and then click ‘Disable all’.

f)       On the ‘Startup’ tab, click ‘**Open Task Manager’.**In the Task Manager window under startup tab, right click on “atibtmon.exe” which are enabled and select ‘Disable’.

g)      Click ‘OK’, and then click Restart.

Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to boot to normal startup.

a)      Press the ‘Windows + R’ key on the keyboard.

b)      In the ‘Run’ windows type ’MSCONFIG’ and click ‘Ok’.

c)      On the ‘General’ tab, click the ‘Normal Startup’ option, and then click ‘OK’.

d)      When you are prompted to restart the computer, click ‘Restart’.

Method 2: Download and install “Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)”:

Thank you for your valuable post. I hope a lot of people benefited from this post. 

I tried both method you posted online, I was be able to follow most of the steps, BUT when I get to step f ( method 1 )  where I was supposed to Disable **“atibtmon.exe”,**I didn't see "atibtmon.exe" option.

I went back to second method, I downloaded the application as you asked us to do, but when I complete the download and were to install, it game me a error message which said " 

Please resolve the following:

A newer version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable has been detected on the machine.

"

Now, I went back to the starting point.
