FSX Acceleration Error Code 1-80004005

Ok, I just installed Flight Simulator Acceleration and when ever i start FSX i get a error message saying: "sorry,an unexpected error occured which is prventing product activation from being completed ERROR CODE 1-80004005" i've searched bout 5 hours on the Internet trying to find a solution. The only thing i can find is that its something with the registry. Please Help!

1.     Has the game ever worked earlier or it is the first time you are trying to play?

2.     Which operating system is installed on the computer?

a. Click Start and type regedit in the search bar and pressenter.

b. Browse to the following location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTROL\CLASS{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} ****c. Find Upperfilters listed under it, and check its value, if its 0 change it to PartMgr and click OK out.

    I have windows 10 and the hardest part was finding a way to start regedit.exe, took me about two days to figure out but then about 5min to capitalize the P and M of partmgr, I am now activated HOOHRA!!!

    I also experienced this error yesterday (12/16/17) and used the solution posted here.  I changed partmgr to PartMgr and then could again activate my FSX Acceleration expansion pack.   Interestingly, I had first deleted the expansion pack and found that my FSX Deluxe Edition then started without error; however, when the expansion pack was reinstalled the activation error reappeared.  Once I edited the registry everything returned to normal.

    I had used FSX after the Win 10 pro x64 version 1709 update (for me on 11/17/2017) so perhaps the registry change was associated with the update KB4051963 (on 12/04/17) or KB4054517 (on 12/12/17).

    I am very grateful for the discussion and solution presented on this forum.  FSX has worked very well for me using Win 10 pro without making any capability mode changes, but I wonder how long that will continue to be the case.  I cannot fault Microsoft too much since it is old software.

    I do wish to note one popup that does appear on my system each time I exit FSX

    Compatibility settings have been applied

    To fix a compatibility problem, compatibility settings have been applied to the program.  These settings will be used the next time you run the program.

    There is a “Run Program” button on the bottom of the popup, but pressing it does not appear to do anything.  I have not experimented with the Program Compatibility Assistant to disable compatibility checking for FSX.  Perhaps I will ask about this popup elsewhere on these forums.  It is a small issue.

    Click Start and type - regedit - in the search bar and press enter.

    Go to the following registry entry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTROL\CLASS{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    ****Find Upperfilters in the right hand window pane, and check its value, if it is written - partmgr - change it to - PartMgr - and click OK

    Close the registry editor and reboot for it to take effect.

    Also note that it is Case Sensitive mine was partmgr and NEEDS to be PartMgr
