Hi,

1.     Has the game ever worked earlier or it is the first time you are trying to play?

2.     Which operating system is installed on the computer?

Method 1:

You may try the steps from the following link and check if it works:

Flight Simulator X: “An error occurred while attempting to activate the product The problem may be due to an incomplete installation of the application”

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960481

Method 2:

Registry Disclaimer: ****Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. The above solution is correct - the value of Upperfilters may already be "partmgr", if it is, it has to bechanged to uppercase P and M "PartMgr" then it works like a charm.

    Yeah.... Me too

Legitimate copy of FSX. WILL NOT WORK on Microsoft computer. It IS registered and activated..... So I have wasted my money.

Completely and utterly **** with Microsoft. Just couldn't care less unless you are a corporate client.

Just got more to do with my life than talk to complete morons on their so called helplines. Passed through 5 different advisors all of whom claimed to be from Microsoft Support, and offered solutions like the above, but eventually said they would have to put me through to somebody who deals with Game support......because they didn't deal with games........  Aaaaaaaaggggggghhhhhhh.

Mr Gates....... You need to get back in there and ****.

Microsoft have screwed my flight simulator. Not happy. Not happy at all.

Thanks guys, but not wasting one more minute on it.

I had the same problem! Eventually, I gave up and bought the FSX Steam Edition. It is cheap and works much better. Frustrating but Microsoft Support is useless.
