Why is my Action Center tray icon missing?

My Action Center tray icon is missing for a while and even after I right click and click properties on the tray, I can't turn it back on since it's grayed out. I tried methods of editing the registry, but no luck.

    Hi,

    I have exactly the same problem, and also have all the above mentioned registries and stuff!

    It's a virus that removed many parts of the registry on my computer.  I was able to recover all of them and restart the services, except for the ActionCenter icon, which does not load, and is greyed out, so cannot be turned on!

    Any other suggestions as to what make this icon work in the taskbar?

    I had the same problem and this worked for me:

    1. Run regedit
    2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify
    3. Delete the value IconStreams
    4. Restart computer

    Hello,

    Just tried, still no ActionCenter icon in tray.  I even tried deleting the TrayNotify key completely, and rebooted, still no icon!

    The ActionCenter is greyed out and inactive in the system icons configuration panel.

    For a brief moment, I taught it would work, and would finally have the icon back...  Back to reality now, snif...

    Right click on the Start Button and select Properties, Taskbar tab, Customise (Notication area), Turn system icons on or off. This takes you to a window displaying two columns in a large box headed by System Icons and Behavious. Action center should appear under System icons. The Behaviour can be Off or On. If Off change it to On using scroll, click on OK and restart your computer. Does Action center  flag on a pole) now appear in the Notication Area of your Desktop?

    Hello,

    The option for ActionCenter is greyed out.  Inactive is selected and cannot be changed, as explained previously!

    To find what causes this option to be greyed out and fix it, would definitely fix the issue!  But I cannot find what makes it greyed out like this...  A missing file, a missing registry entry...  Everything seems fine!  Each time I found a forum with some info, I tried it, but with no success...
