My touchpad is not working after upgrading to Windows 8 Professional. I have a Lenovo Ultrabook u300s, the

touchpad i believe is Cypress Trackpad. The mouse cursor simply doesnt move but I notice if I click the button it will response. I have installed the latest driver from manufacturer support website. The only way

i can get it work is to remove the driver, but the standard drivers by Windows doesn't have the palm detection. Notice also the key button (F6) to disable the touchpad doesnt work anymore

This was so simple to fix. Anyone who is having this problem, just look at your function buttons on your laptop. If yours is anything like mine, then you have to press fn before pressing f2. If so, then, look at the keys and there is one with a little image of a mouse/no-mouse. On mine, it is key f5. When pressed without the fn button it locks the mousepad. With that said, I inadvertently locked my mouse after trying to press f5 to refresh a webpage. Hit it just once, and the lock comes off.

That is a seriously pesky feature...

o thank you so much Ellipsysis.

You have resolved a big issue today. I purchased my laptop in Dec 2013 and after few weeks it touchpad was not working. I thought it is factory fault and i tried to fix it in setting section but it did not work. Today, after 6 months i thought might be there is some other issue i need to fix it then i went to windows help by typing keyword MY TOUCHPAD IS NOT WORKING and your post appeared and i found astonishly that it was only fn plus f7 issue after reading your answer.

    Thank you

    Hi,

I had this problem two times in 4 months. touchpad stopped working and i decided to restart windows and it worked for less than 1 minute and again stopped working. Then I just keep abling and disabling the touchpad and after a while it started working.

But the second time this technique didn't work. i tried everything i could but in vain. finally, I restore my system and it did work. I think it is the proper solution for this irritating problem in windows 8.

Thank you!! I am new to windows 8, with a brand new laptop. F5 on my older laptop was the screen brightness button. ~Tracy :)
