Hi guys,
Just tried to create a recovery USB drive. But I find that "We can't create a recovery drive on this PC. Some required files are missing. To troubleshoot problems when your PC can't start, use your Windows installation disc or media."
Uh?
Is a fresh Windows 8 x64 (RTM) installation. Only thing that I can think of is it has UEFI and Secure Boot enabled.
Ideas?

This works, finally a solution! I am using Windows 10 and tried this and I am now creating a recovery drive. Thank you Diego Lima Silva. Bravo!
N.B. I changed "harddisk0" to "harddisk2 and "partition1" to "partition3" for my particular setup. To determine drive info: Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Storage/Disk Management

I set up a dual boot system with Win7 & Win8. I'm sure in the process, windows lost where the recovery partition was. Your solution worked great.

Most new machines come with a recovery partition allowing you to go back to the time of purchase, you will have to check your user guides (or the manufacturer's Web Site) for instructions. Choosing that path requires you to save all valuable data first. Unfortunately upgrading to Windows 8.1 may lose such Recovery Partition.
These options are built-in to Windows 8 also.

Try contacting your OEM for the Windows 8 Recovery Media. For a small charge they should be able to supply you with a copy on DVD or USB. This will allow you to reinstall Windows 8 to factory settings as of day one and also replace a recovery partition.
The above would be the same procedure as if you had corrupted, lost, or replaced, a faulty hard drive, which often happens.
Yes Sandeep Ghatuary, those are the steps one takes to create a recovery drive. It would appear that Carlos took those steps and received this message, "We can't create a recovery drive on this PC. Some required files are missing. To troubleshoot problems when your PC can't start, use your Windows installation disc or media."
I also took the steps you enumerated and also received the "missing files" statement. The question remains: What are the files that are missing and how does one get those files?
