Can't create recovery drive on this PC

Hi guys,

Just tried to create a recovery USB drive. But I find that "We can't create a recovery drive on this PC. Some required files are missing. To troubleshoot problems when your PC can't start, use your Windows installation disc or media."

Uh?

Is a fresh Windows 8 x64 (RTM) installation. Only thing that I can think of is it has UEFI and Secure Boot enabled.

Ideas?

I know this is old but it might help somebody.  I have not finished mine yet but I was having problems too.  I am in the process of copying the system.  I was having problems until I reread the instructions.  You start the recovery disk setup without a flash drive in there... then when it tells you to you put the disk in.  I did that after the fourth attempt and it seems to be working just fine.  The 3rd time I did it the way someone said to about unchecking the box.  it created the disk but I wanted the recovery drive too not just the disk. Am I understanding that correctly?  Sorry going from a mac to a windows.. I'm confused.  Well any way I waited to put the flash drive in until it told me to do it.  So that might help others.  My computer is only a couple of days old and nothing has been downloaded as of yet so I don't have too much to put on the disk.  The recovery drive is now ready with out any issues.

    Hello guys,

    I solved the problem !

I fond out that WindowsRE was missing on my PC probably due to the fact that I rearranged my partitions.

I restored WindowsRE following the procedures explained in https://www.winhelp.us/restore-windows-re.html  and the recovery function of my PC is now back to work.

Hello-I found your article interesting  and probably  useful. I am using Win 10  now and will check to see if it applies to Win 10. Thanks.
