App Store: "Your PC isn't connected to the Internet."

My App Store is not working right now. If I open the App Store, I get a message saying the following:

"Your PC isn't connected to the Internet. To use the Store, connect to the Internet and then try again."

Obviously, this isn't true, as I can browse the web perfectly normally with a web browser, and all other applications are able to access the internet. I have made sure my proxy settings are unchecked, so that should not be the issue. The odd thing is that the App Store was working fine about two weeks ago, but then it hit this message and it hasn't changed. Restarting the computer has no effect on the message.

Running the Music app (which I downloaded when the App Store was still working) has a similar error. When I open the Music app, and click the "Sign in" link, the following error code shows up:

"0xc00d11b2 (0x80072af9)"

I am running Windows 8 Enterprise, if that makes a difference.

Is there a solution to this issue?

Do the following steps:

Disable Proxy

If you are using proxy to connect internet please disable that, refer to the steps below to disable proxy:

  1. Press “Windows Key” + “R”.
  2. Type “inetcpl.cpl”.
  3. Go to Connection.
  4. Click on LAN Settings.
  5. Check the box which says Automatically detect settings.
  6. Uncheck the box under Proxy server.

If you are still facing issues with it, please follow the steps below:

Reset Windows Update Component.

This will reset and reregister Windows Update Components. This usually solves Windows update related problems.

Note: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

I worked with Microsoft support on this problem.

On my system we realized that the Windows Store App worked fine for other local accounts on my PC just not for my account.

While logged in as me the technician ran WSReset.exe (which clears out the Windows Store app cache) and as soon as that was done my Windows Store app started to work as it should.

Your mileage may vary, but it worked for me.

I tried all the suggestions given by "experts" but still the problem persists - Apps not getting connected to Internet. It is disgusting and makes me to regret for buying a PC with Windows 8.

Well, I have the same problem, but WSRESET doesn't work for me: no changes, cannot log in to my Microsoft account when asked to do so when I want to download an application, or it says "you're not connect to the internet" (which I am). The extends to IE, as it doesn't work at all, cannot open any page with IE ("page cannot be displayed")

I do have a Microsoft account which I can log in to from any internet browser other than IE, but when resetting my PC from the installation disc I could not use my Microsoft account ("we cannot access Microsoft services" or similar) so now I am stuck with a local account. Changing to a local account into a Microsoft account is not possible (same message as above). But my Microsoft account is up and running but not for the Store.

if we assume that a lot of people have problems, either with WLAN sticks which drivers does not support the new network connection neighbourhood (like AVM WLAN Stick 1.1) or for any other reason, why the heck Microsoft insists to a use freaking new method to estimate if a computer has a working internet connection or not?

    New:

    Classic:

We are talking about a simple DNS resolution request, via the configurable primary network device the store has to make to ensure if the internet is connected properly, instead of using a half-baked new API!

As a Certified Windows Professional I can only say Windows 8.1 is a lackluster piece of software. Ashaming and embarrasing users with again unfinished new technology.

I simply do not see any advantage in the new network connection profiles over the old ones we had till Windows 7. Especially not as there is not even a proper user network profile management possible without using GPOs. Microsoft, not the users, has to fix this issue once and for all and the solution is technically damn easy- instead they are bugging people with a wsreset.exe and possible solutions and workarounds galore. And then why the command line tool isn't it visible and accessible for one in the first place? What's so difficult to implement a touch / button to run wsreset.exe without using Windows > Run, but let a user launch it directly from the store in case of a failure - quite independently the case, if it does help one or not?
