App Store: "Your PC isn't connected to the Internet."

My App Store is not working right now. If I open the App Store, I get a message saying the following:

"Your PC isn't connected to the Internet. To use the Store, connect to the Internet and then try again."

Obviously, this isn't true, as I can browse the web perfectly normally with a web browser, and all other applications are able to access the internet. I have made sure my proxy settings are unchecked, so that should not be the issue. The odd thing is that the App Store was working fine about two weeks ago, but then it hit this message and it hasn't changed. Restarting the computer has no effect on the message.

Running the Music app (which I downloaded when the App Store was still working) has a similar error. When I open the Music app, and click the "Sign in" link, the following error code shows up:

"0xc00d11b2 (0x80072af9)"

I am running Windows 8 Enterprise, if that makes a difference.

Is there a solution to this issue?

Do the following steps:

Disable Proxy

If you are using proxy to connect internet please disable that, refer to the steps below to disable proxy:

  1. Press “Windows Key” + “R”.
  2. Type “inetcpl.cpl”.
  3. Go to Connection.
  4. Click on LAN Settings.
  5. Check the box which says Automatically detect settings.
  6. Uncheck the box under Proxy server.

If you are still facing issues with it, please follow the steps below:

Reset Windows Update Component.

This will reset and reregister Windows Update Components. This usually solves Windows update related problems.

Note: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

I worked with Microsoft support on this problem.

On my system we realized that the Windows Store App worked fine for other local accounts on my PC just not for my account.

While logged in as me the technician ran WSReset.exe (which clears out the Windows Store app cache) and as soon as that was done my Windows Store app started to work as it should.

Your mileage may vary, but it worked for me.

It's not your wireless.  The POS is doing it to me also, with wireless or wired.  Makes absolutely no difference.  I've had the laptop for about 1-1/2 weeks now.  Store just decided to stop working on me today.  I last used it a couple of days ago when it announced there was two updates.  I'm guessing one of the updates borked it.

In general I like Windows 8 a lot better than previous Windows, but this is completely fubar.  It seems to have borked the activation code for Avira Antivirus too (Norton shot up to 31% CPU usage today, so it was time for a purge.)

I'm having the same problem - Windows Store Apps doesn't connect to internet, whereas IE/Chrome from desktop has no problem.  I've exhausted multitude of solutions from various forums including Vendor support and Microsoft support. What I've learnt spending hours of troubleshooting is that the problem is either in the driver of WiFi adapter or in the firmware of the Router.  Mine is Dell Inspiron 5423 laptop with Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230 running on Windows 8(factory installed) and Router is Cisco Linksys E1200.  My router is serving all WiFi devices ( TV, smartphones, laptops, network printer) in my home effectively. I didn't suspect it for quite some time. The options I've at present are either change the router or wait for patches. I've tested it with Belkin router in my friends place and also direct wire connection to DSL modem and it works just fine in both the cases.  Just thought this would help fellow Windows 8 Guinea pigs struggling like me!

I too suspect that Windows 8 is hiccuping on my WiFi adapter.  I have a USB WiFi adapter on my desktop and recently moved it to a different USB port - the Store and many other apps haven't connected since (though I'm clearly on the web now through my browser).  I've moved the USB WiFi adapter back to the original port and it still doesn't work.

I expect Microsoft to have a fix for this soon - this is unacceptable.

I have the same problem and have tried all the solutions above.

WSReset.exe did something but now the message is more or less like -  "We weren't able to connect to the store. Might be server problem or network connection timed out, try again in a few minutes."

In addition to trying all the solutions in my post just above, I tried sfc /scannow, System Restore and chkdsk /f. None solved the problem.  A complete Defender virus scan showed no problems.

System restore returned - "System Restore did not complete successfully."  DETAILS  "System restore failed to extract the file (C:\User\Don\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.BingNews 8wekyb3d...etc from the restore point. The restore point was damaged or was deleted during the restore."

Evidently some "Metro" app files are getting corrupted somehow.

This problem is crying for a solution without having to do a System Refresh or Reinstall.

    Microsoft ???
