Windows 8 Pro cannot boot - Error 0xC000021a

I upgraded my son's laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro. I has been working fine for a few weeks. But now when booting It halts iwth the error code 0xc000021a. I have tried the following options

Refresh - this fails with the error 0xc000021a

System Restore - this fails with 0xc000021a

Safe mode boot does not work

I can start the cmd console

Any suggestions as to how to proceed?

Best solution out so far(if you had preserved your copy, even better) upgrade to Windows 10.

Where can I find the "force drivers to have signature disabled" I cannot find it in the Aptio Setup Utility

Because of the windows 10 free upgrade. You can get a download link to create an iso file for 8 and 8.1. Works best if you have a key.

I tried to do the above and I got this:

Development Image Servicing and Management Tool

Version:6.2.9200.16384

Error 50

DISM does not support servicing Windows PE with the /online option

The DISM log file can be found at

x:\windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

I did it and got this

The system cannot find the path specified.

When I type DISM /?

I do not see the get-packages or format-table option on the list of commands. Can you still help me..

Hi Carl,

I do not know how to do this. I don't know the key and would not know how to download since my system does not boot.
