Windows 8 Pro cannot boot - Error 0xC000021a

Hi

I upgraded my son's laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro. I has been working fine for a few weeks. But now when booting It halts iwth the error code 0xc000021a. I have tried the following options

Refresh - this fails with the error 0xc000021a

System Restore - this fails with 0xc000021a

Safe mode boot does not work

I can start the cmd console

Any suggestions as to how to proceed?

    I DID THIS COMMAND FROM

    X:\

    ALL BY ITSELF. TO CHANGE DIRECTORY TYPE: cd x:\ AND THEN PRESS ENTER

    ALSO SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO TYPE EVERYTHING OUT EACH TIME IN CMD, IF YOU HIT UP ON THE ARROW KEY IT SHOWS YOU WHAT THE LAST THING YOU TYPED WAS SO JUST HIT UP CHANGE THE #'S FOR EACH UPDATE AND THE VERSION #'S ON THE END AND HIT ENTER AND REPEAT UNTIL YOU HAVE UNINSTALLED THE UPDATE THAT HAS CAUSED EVERYONE HERE A HUGE HEADACHE.

    I'VE GOT PRETTY DEEP INTO COMPUTER REPAIR RESEARCH BEFORE AND THIS ONE IS PRETTY BAD. GOOD LUCK.

    MESSAGE IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS. I ONLY HAVE ABOUT 15-20 UPDATES SINCE IT RUNED 2015 SO IM DELETING ALL OF THEM WHICH IS HELPFUL JUST CHECK THE YEAR.

    i had this problem and i fixed it. i faced this after updating my win8 and rebooting after that update.

    to fix this, i tried safe mode but it failed to boot. finally i tried to boot with "force drivers to have signature disabled" and it worked.

    This worked for me you will need to follow the instructions as shown here https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/disabling-driver-signature-on-windows-8/disabling-signed-driver-enforcement-on-windows-8  to show you how to do this. After spending better part of 3 hours I found this post. I thought my drive was dead but fortunately I could copy files off it, then I found this post and now my laptop has started up again. THIS DEFINITELY WORKED FOR ME AS WELL.
