The windows 8 store app wont open on my new laptop. All the other apps work fine, and when the app opens it shows the loading screen and that is it.  It is not a resolution issue and it is very disappointing because there are many apps that i haven't installed yet. Do you know whats wrong and a solution to fix this issue? please help.

Hi Little_Diablo,

Welcome to Windows 8 Community!

From your issue description I understand that you are unable to open Windows 8 Store App. We have got some troubleshooting steps in order to resolve the issue.

This issue might happen because of some updates in the app.

I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Method 1:

Download and run the Modern UI App troubleshooter and check.

Method 2: Check if the Date, time and Time zone is set correct.

Follow the steps to set the date and time:

a. Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.

b. Type “Date and Time” in the charms bar search.

c. Click Change date and time button.

d. Click Apply and Ok to save the date and time.

Note: Click on the Time Zone tab to check the Time Zone.

Method 3: If you are using any Proxy connection, then try disabling the proxy connection

a. Click the Gearbox at the top right corner in internet explorer.

b. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.

c. Click the Connections tab, and then click LAN settings.

e) Check “Automatically detect settings.”

f)  Uncheck use a proxy server for your LAN.

Method 4: Check the Windows Firewall Settings

a)      Type in Control Panel on the Start Page.

b)      On the left side, click Control Panel.

c)      Click on Windows Firewall.

d)      On the left pane, click on "Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall".

e)      Under the Allowed apps and features, look for Store.

f)       Make sure you have a click in Private and or Public.

g)      Then see if you can open the Windows Store.

If you have a 3rd party Firewall, you may need to change the settings to allow the app through the Firewall.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you are done. If you are connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 5: What to do if you have problems with an app

My problem is slightly different.  I upgraded to Windows 10 and as a result several of my apes that carried over from Windows 8.1 are now not working.  Even the Ape Store Ape will not come up.

    All,

I was experiencing the same issue - for some reason I was unable to open the app store.  The home screen would appear and all I would get is the spinning circle on the bottom of the screen.  I called the Microsoft support team and this is what they said

1- Turn the device off by swiping to the right - settings - power- shut down

2- once the device powers off, hold the power button for 30 seconds - the surface logo will flash for a few seconds but continue to hold the power button until the 30 seconds has elapsed.

3- turn on the device normally.

4- go to app store- problem solved.

    I hope this helps.

    Tasha

This does not help at all> It seems microsoft is not listening!!! Read the problem and see how many are having the same trouble without resolve > Your quoted advise does not get the store or its previously working apps to even load yet. The store still goes into limbo and will not open but simply shows an icon on the task bar which will continue to refuse to load. What will get the store to actually open!!!???

My first time getting this error was with the pre-installed Netflix app. After working perfectly the first four months I had my new Windows 8 laptop, it stopped working about 2 1/2 months ago.  I attempted several fixes I found using Google, but none of them worked.

I deleted the Netflix app with the intention of reinstalling it.  When I went to open the Store app to reinstall, I again got this error.  This has been going on for about two months.  Again as mentioned, my Windows 8 PC is only 7 months old, and everything worked fine for the first four months or so.

I looked up the window 8 Store App error on Google as well,  and tried at least five different solutions, including those listed on this page, and none of them have worked.

I am now thinking of doing a complete reinstall of Windows 8.

My real question though, is why isn't Microsoft issuing a fix for this obviously wide-spread problem?
