I HATE Windows 8. This is the worst OS ever invented.

I've tried and tried for several weeks and will "downgrade" to Windows 7 later today.  I hope I don't get charged for it. 

If you want your computer to be an over-glorified smart phone, then Windows 8 is for you.  Otherwise, stick to Windows 7 or XP.

What have you got against installing a third party start menu?

If Windows 8 had the aero interface, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between it and Windows 7.

My primary problem with the Windows 8 is that it seems to be made for a touch-screen.

It doesn't like my laptop mouse.  Hates it, apparently.

Someone mentioned that you'd be hard pressed to tell W8 from Windows 7 with a different start menu. From my perspective, if it doesn't have the Demon Charms, it'll probably be fine for my needs.

I'm not trying to put Windows 8 down. It just doesn't seem top like me or my laptop.

I type (and edit) somewhere in the neighborhood of a quarter-million words a year, minimally, so that's not something I can tolerate on a regular basis. Enduring it merely for the month I mentioned is a real test of my tolerance.

Oh, well, we'll see how well those anger management classes worked.   :^)

I had someone else suggest this Start 8 and it is awesome. Solved most of my problems, just like for you and I totally agree with having to *** some Microsoft execs' butt... 

Have you found any solution yet to the mandatory Windows Live ID logon requirement? That is one of my biggest complaints.. This laptop will go nowhere but my own laptop and this logon really annoys me.. an extra step I don't need plus it uses my Windows ID that I use for junk mail and not for business. So yesterday when I logged into skype, for instance, I got the message that now my Windows Live ID will take over the logging in for that too! I now don;t dare logging into facebook, company anything... I don't want my junk email ID associated with any of those...

I think Microsoft is trying to copy Apple's unified iTunes mode for ID but iTunes does not run my business or personal software, my communications, my computer log on, etc., it only runs my app updates and my contacts if I wish.. but even that can be deactivated and I don't need to use that as a mandatory log on for my computer...

What's with this mandatory log on deal anyway!!! Are we in the mandatory world of dictatorship by Microsoft? I thought we lived in a democracy of choices.... lol :p

You don't know how to use Windows 8, so you hate it? That's like

saying you don't know to fly an airplane, so you hate airplanes.

Like anything else new, it takes some time to learn to use Windows 8

and get accustomed to what's different and what's improved. Instead of

taking steps backward in time and reverting to an obsolescent version

of Windows, you should get yourself a good book and learn how to use

what you have.

Ken, I appreciate your comment but I think you are wrong. When I get on an airplane I am not the pilot and I am assuming the pilot knows what he/she is doing.. but when it comes to my computer, I am the pilot and I want to know how to use it and I want choices! As far as Win 8 is concerned: mandatory log in screen with Windows Live ID (don't want that? no option to not want it), Mandatory Win 8 desktop (yeah.. you can deactivate as I did and purchase Start8 as I did.. but hey... this was supposed to be THE thing about Win 8)... so here I am now deactivating all of Win 8 "good things" rather than just have some of these options made for a 2-year old pop up.. for heavens sake! Why is Microsoft so bent on using Live ID now? because no one is actually using it? Why do we now have to have all these apps.. because no one wants it?

Time for Microsoft to see that about 50% of the people I know (my colleagues and I am a techie as well as a phtographer) have dropped PC and moved over to Apple. I am a techie so I am still with Microsoft but if this continues they may loose me too... 

What happened to choices??? Options??? Why do I have i7 if all my applications open up in full screen so by definition I am running only one (you need Start8 to override this!)... what is Microsoft trying to achieve by creating a flashing, advertising, and annoying desktop that so many of us are trying to turn of??? 

Microsoft: If youare listening and reading into these forums, I have a business and techie degree. My recommendation is that you REALLY read these forums and see that your business will be going down the tube unless you listen up and make some of these "mandatory" nonsence things into "optional" so those of us techies can use your new OS painlessly and happily. As it is--and continues to be--just annoying and the improvements of speed and quality are totally lost for many of us (most of us) among alll the annoying mandatory things...
