I HATE Windows 8. This is the worst OS ever invented.

Microsoft has all but admitted that Windows 8 is a failure, hence the major update coming. Why are my pictures hidden?  Why did the designer of Windows 8 abruptly 'leave'?  Windows 7 was awesome, and they decided to come out with VISTA part 2.  and call it windows 8. Microsoft failed miserably.  I will NEVER buy a computer with Windows 8. Ask Dell and HP how their sales are!!!!!!!

Is Windows 8 a failure?  *shrug*  Depends who you are, I guess.  Same as previously.  On a broader scale it's more likely it will not be accepted by more people until some 'features' can be turned on/off without resorting to third party software.

I'd like +1 John on his comments about Windows 8. It is retarded. Period. And the fact that a new user can't do the things they want to do intuitively makes it even more retarded. MVP fanboy Blake has employed an equally retarded metaphor to try and excuse this. No Blake, it's not like that at all. it's like knowing how to fly a plane, getting in a plane to fly it, and then realising that the plane is actually a retarded, recalcitrant donkey. One simple example: try mapping a network (NAS) drive for your pictures. Because it can't be indexed, there's an elaborate work-around involving creating directories, deleting directories and creating symbolic links from the command prompt. Retarded. So many more examples I could site after just one day of sadly having to endure Windows 8 on an otherwise nice new laptop. I neither have the time nor the inclination to go into it though. Instead, I'll waste a couple of hours of my time re-installing Win7. To MS - thanks for nothing morons. Way to do an Apple on it. To Google - go you good thing. The sooner you come out with something to replace this piece of ****, the better.

You don't know how to use Windows 8, so you hate it? That's like saying you don't know to fly an airplane, so you hate airplanes.

Like anything else new, it takes some time to learn to use Windows 8 and get accustomed to what's different and what's improved. Instead of taking steps backward in time and reverting to an obsolescent version of Windows, you should get yourself a good book and learn how to use what you have.

Yesterday I had our company's CEO return his Windows 8 Tablet to the IT department. After using it for the past six to seven months, he no longer sees value in carrying it around. He did express there is a different Tablet device he would prefer.

Then later that evening, when speaking to two people I assisted with an ultrabook purchase, they expressed to me how deeply they dislike Windows 8. Windows 7 was not an alternative for them when they made their purchase.

I hope Microsoft are listening to people.  I hope Intel's new CPU chipsets have  improved performance with lower power consumption, and the sooner the better.  I think both are needed to save Windows.  I would also like lower personal taxes, so what are my chances?

Oh, the Start screen is still there.  Yep, I don't think it will go away, sadly.  Fortunately there is StarDock's Start8.

Microsoft may re-introduce the Start button for the desktop, but the Modern UI will STAY.

 

Eventually, touch systems will get some traction, but there will always be a need for a desktop OS, even if it does become a minority product..

1. Xbox: hopelessly small selection of music, limited number of artists.
2. Windows Store search... seriously Dark Age junk now (but... if it ever gets implemented).
3. Gems should be a taskbar toolbar... so it's always 'visible': "visibility", the Windows foundation.
4. Start Screen should be a tabbed window interface, a taskbar toolbar popup so always visible.
5. "Tap" instructions for desktop hardware... that's deaf, dumb and blind BEFORE retardation.
6. Get rid of the wrench thrown into the gears of multi-tasking by Start Screen. PERIOD!

Only problem with Windows 8, fitting handhelds into equation is this: Microsoft has dropped its butt on the PC crowd which it is now suffocating with honestly, unpleasantly primitive odors! Perhaps Bill Gates has spent a little too much time in the sun?

Cheap for Microsoft to sell to the 600x400 market, but when you browse now to Office Images Backgrounds, and the biggest you can find for your dual monitor 4GB graphic hardware is 600x400... folks, that's seriously impoverished. Redmond can only afford matchbox cameras now? Sad. Windows 8 is SO UNFINISHED!

'Blue' to me is a rabid promise of entrenched poverty of Spirit. In an even darker 'light', Windows is now into a new hardware game, "battling with IPod. [Microsoft Store]" Um... IPod, according to in-store Apple Sales, "isn't even a telephone." Honestly!

Anyway, Mr Mike Hall, Microsoft's hardware is "Surface", "as in surfactant [Microsoft Tech Net]". Surfactant? What spooks me about the surfactant thingy's concept is that marketing nowhere includes hardware specifications of any description. Not even the word 'CPU'. I've sent messages everywhere m dot com asking specifications, but not one reply. Maybe Surface is kinda... empty. Spooky!

Zen for me, that's touch-capable Pro-Art display tech (Microsoft Americas does NOT support touch technology, and anyway the manufacturer's intended application for touch here is in-store customer shopping with Microsoft Region 1, Europe: not computing where it now abides) on top of colonial Thermaltake box with not-pretend blue inside night-light to warm my Intel i7-3770, 32 GB ram, deck of Intel SSD's and that ever so sweetly placed tech-job wiring, all glimmering gently through a soundless, flat, unwarped, crystal-clear side-panel real WINDOW... the only windows round here these days. . .  

This Unix box, Microsoft can never turn into [an Effin] Spastic Mess. I really prefer the word spastic in this convo. Because retardation is a real human problem that can't be fixed. Microsoft's Windows 8 SPASTICITY can be fixed. Who knows who, or how, or when?

Get real, people. The one step forward taken by Microsoft in Windows 8 is X64. Stardock is a WOW tangle. That has yet to get WOW'd. For 'peeps' spastically gripping at... older thingy-ness.
