I HATE Windows 8. This is the worst OS ever invented.

Most people who know a bit about mecanics and have owned older car will actually tell you that there is no good that can come out of adding computer to a car. Most car problems people have nowadays are caused by computer chips failing while the part that seems to be broken would actually work perfectly fine if the car had been made old school. And I have yet to find someone who doesnt appreciate the good old charger of old times( nothing like the wimpy piece of junk the local cops own which can hardly catch up to a friggin chevette and calls itself a charger lol )Same pricinple applies to computers themselves. Personaly I love win 98 se, it was lean, efficient, with the patches it stopped crashing for nothing. I find the older apps were user friendly with easy to use interface, didnt waste my rams on useless processes that I dont even want to have, didnt waste my graphic core on heavy junk that I dont really wanna see, didnt bring anoying pop up junk all the time, it was perfect in every way. Win 7 wont even run my favorite apps and I have no choice to use it my new machine cannot have any drivers that are compatible with anything other than this horse ****. Far as Im concerned the last decent OS presented by microsoft was win 98 se. XP started to suck very badly, they started messing the interface, it wasted 128 megs of ram while idle, and things have only gone down since then. If what you like is irrelevant visual effects than I wish you a happy life with all the newer windows os tehy will make but personally , I dream of a driver converter which will turn my win 7 drivers into win 98 drivers so I can use most of my machines powere to run my apps instead of windows process I dont want in the first place .

How in the **** does anybody hate this environment. I now have a few windows open and it is easy to close a damn thing. I know the weather at my town and could give a ****. This is EPIC!!! Is this an improvement - yes it is! I don't want to get Windows XP or 7 back. They SUCK!!! I can get around easily. I can close windows. I can update any of these stupid tiles. This Beats ANYTHING!!! I wonder how all the people who have posted here previously are traveling with their Windows 8 experiences?  If you are following this thread, please let me (and Microsoft know).

I am keenly waiting for a) Windows 8 Blue, b) Intel Bay Trail series (maybe Haswell but I am now concerned about its power consumption and need for cooling fans).

Sadly I may have to wait until Christmas (or later?).

I would very much like to see "non-Windows" Metro gone.  Will Microsoft designers finally listen to us?

The return of the start menu would be nice, especially for servers (never did understand this move). I have persevered with Windows 8 on my desktop and could live without the start button, but I guess the string of shortcuts I have loaded onto my task bar would indicate that the splash Start screen is not the best solution for desktops.

I have assisted others in the purchase of the Fujitsu Q702 (business users) and ASUS Vivo Tab Smart ME400C (home user) and found I really like the idea of a Windows tablet. I never could get myself to use a non-Windows device.  The sooner Intel can release the Bay Trail series the sooner Windows Tablets can perform like a Tablet PC should.

After analysis, the features which I recommend and desire in a tablet are;

1. A fingerprint reader for domain joined users to enable effortless log in.
2. Mobile Broadband for corporate users (or users who can afford Telco's mobile broadband).
3. A docking station. I want this device to be my only PC, so when I am at home or at the office I want to dock it into my large screen, full sized keyboard and mouse, wired LAN, sound system, local storage (i.e. USB3 Hard Disk drives).  This is where the ASUS ME400C is lacking, it cannot even be charged while attached to an external USB deivce such as a hard disk drive as it uses the one and only micro USB port to charge it.  It should be possible to design a charging micro USB2 port replicator, just I have not found one.
4. More than 64GB of internal disk capacity. I know this is a technological issue, but what remains after install Windows and my apps is not enough to store my data. Try putting 200GB of photos/video, other files into cloud storage and access it in real time. Sorry this does not work today (maybe in 10 years or more it will but not today).
5. a screen cover, while a very basic concept, so many tablet and tablet-clamshells have no way to protect the screen when your rushing around (the ASUS ME400C has a great cover), other than putting it back into your briefcase or backpack.
6. active pen/stylus for hand writing and for picture touch ups. While not essential, can make a huge difference in the effective usefulness of a Tablet PC.  If only the ASUS ME400C did have this feature like its larger cousin does.
7. screen size  and usability.  I want to see a lot of detail, but I want it to be large enough for me to be able select via touch, and to be able to see it.  An active pen/style helps here and decreasing the screen resolution.
8. Battery life - 10 to 12 hour battery full use life is what is needed, any more is a bonus.
9. No fan (making noise or sending out heat) and the device should not get hot.  I have never noticed the ASUS ME400C getting hot, it is great in this regard too.

Above are my main 10 points, below is an eleventh that I wanted to mention in the hopes someone might comment about.

11. No OLED as yet?  When will OLED technology be able to help with bright, high resolution screens, and low power consumption?

It is my believe that when consumers can purchase a Windows Tablet PC that actually has the required features to a Tablet PC fully usable, sales will move in a big way. 

Mainly because of technology but also because of design, I am unable to find a device that truly supplies peoples needs.  I assist staff who would like a Tablet PC in their selection, but at this time many are hold back as the current range of devices do not provide the features they want/require.

The list above is arranged in order of importance.

What is it that you want to see in a Windows Tablet PC ?

Microsoft may re-introduce the Start button for the desktop, but the Modern UI will STAY.

Eventually, touch systems will get some traction, but there will always be a need for a desktop OS, even if it does become a minority product..
