I HATE Windows 8. This is the worst OS ever invented.

I hate it too its a huge RAM hog.  Many programs are unstable or wont work example IE doesn't work for me if I launch from Desktop but it does when I use the retarded new start menu.

You said, "huge RAM hog", why would you say that?  I have been running Windows 8 32 bit on a very old Toshiba Tablet (pen type), which was only designed for Windows XP, there is not much RAM in this PC, and Windows 8 runs well, better that Windows XP.

You said, "IE doesn't work for me", is that personal preference, or do you have actual issues that are not just because you do not know how to do certain functions. I do not use or like the Metro IE, for two reasons, 1) it does not run Flash, 2) I do not fully understand how to use it so it is difficult for me to use, there are certain features I don't know how to do. I love working with multiple screens, and multiple Windows, but it has no multiple Window feature.  These are all my personal preference and learning issues.

If you have discovered real problems, we would like to learn what they are to gain a better appreciation of those issues.

I am so hoping that Microsoft are listening to people's frustrations, and learn how to make Windows 10 much kinder to us.  I have yet to meet another person who is prepared to use Windows 8.  I have been using Windows 8 so that I can learn it, and while I do not like it (because I don't have a Tablet device), it does work.  But it is so very different, a large learning curve.

I have yet to find a Tablet Device that has the features that I want. I do not just want a tablet device.  All those people with iPad's and Androids might be happy, then Windows 8 RT is an alternative for them, but I am looking for a desktop that can travel with me as a Tablet, but be a desktop when I am in the Office or at Home. That is to be able to dock to a large monitor, external full sized Keyboard/Mouse, LAN, External high capacity USB3 HD.  The tablet needs to be able to travel with a lightweight keyboard, but be a tablet when I want it to be. For me, I would personally like a larger sized screen so I can actually read papers, documents, reports, web pages without scrolling sideways, be able to use RDP to remote into a corporate environment and actually see what I am doing, which is why I don't want a small iPad, or Android.  But lets see what the market decides, so far where I am, there has been very few Windows 8 Tablet devices I can look at, and so far only one model comes close to what I would like. Some of the other devices look really great as an iPad/Android replacement, I was really impressed, though most run a Atom processor, and at this time, the Android processor does not have the performance that I would appreciate, they are a bit slow.  Sadly I have yet to see a 3G or 4G Windows 8 device. Without 3G or 4G you just are not truly mobile, but always seeking a free WiFi service, or have to carry around yet another device to turn on/off when you want to use your Tablet.

Time will give the market place to opportunity to tell if we are just whiners or if Windows 8 and the devices being offered are not what people want.  I really don't want to loose "Windows" as I know it.

It is different.  It is a large learning curve.  As was Windows 7 from Windows XP (yeah, I leave out Vista), Windows XP from Windows 98SE (yeah, I leave out Windows ME) and heck, Windows 95 from Windows for Workgroups.  Office 2003 to Office 2007 and even Office 2010 to Office 2013 (Outlook has been a bit of a pain.)  Photoshop has changed a lot over the last decade.  Even Adobe Reader isn't the same as it was in 2002.  Open Office now has the off-shoot of LibreOffice - so even the free alternatives are different out there in the past decade.  Cars don't look the same, hybrids and alternative fuels are more common.  Hairstyles are even different and the stuff that is on TV is mostly reality stuff because people don't experience that as much as they used to, I guess?  *grin*

Dell XPS 12 has been decent (can even get a dock with it for $100 more.)  Dell Latitude 10 - not too bad.  The Asus VivoTab with RT isn't even all that bad - but yeah - I still like full Windows versions over the tablet ones.

Thanks for your response, but I have still not met you, or had a coffee with you. I have read your post, but I really don't know who you are.

The Dell XPS 12 is quite capable.  I wanted to introduce them to my work place, but they are heavier than our current Toshiba laptops, and our staff don't want anything heavier, they want something that is significantly lighter.  I am unable to get my hands on a Dell XPS 12 or a Latitude 10 to test them. I am unable to order either with 3G which is why we did not bother, but it does have Wacom Active Stylus support, a plus.

We have staff who are waiting for the Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2, which has a digitizer pen, weighs 565g and 3G support (mobile broadband).  It only has an Atom processor, which might be a bit slow, and with only 64 GB HD there is not much disk space to carry your files (the user in mind currently has around 400-500 GB in their My Documents, I guess they can carry an External USB HD?).

I tend to believe that users want more than what technology can deliver today. I keep looking at the Haswell chip set because it will finally allow these portable devices to be able to have reasonable video performance, but I think that real power savings and greater CPU performance will not be here until two or three years time.  Sorry that we want it all now!  Why, because I have it with my desktop, and I now want it to be portable (I am actually echoing what others have said to me, but I do agree). 

Personally I do like the Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro, but we are unable to purchase it with 3G support as yet, maybe this will come out later?  Current price here is about $1500.

REALLY??? That is your reply?  To be rude and condecending?  We are so fabulous that you MUST worship at our feel and thank us for being so wonderful... Windows 8 is being forced on those of us that DO NOT WANT IT.  Way to do things, force the public to buy something they don't want instead of providing the public with what they want to buy.
