ok here's the new slogan for Microsoft once they address that windows 8 is a failure for mouse and keyboard users.   "retro from metro".

Really Ken, Like flying a airplane?.  This should not be as difficult or many hours required to learn how to fly.  Stupid answers just mean you don't have a valid answer.

Windows 8 may be ok for touch screen.  My monitor is on the wall, Do I really have to get up every time walk across the room and touch the screen?

I like touch screen for my smart phone.  I like keyboard and mouse for my computer.

Ken please feel free to make your childish comment's about my response.

No sense addressing the real issue.

Windows 8 failed for keyboard and mouse.  Please make a "classic toggle option"

Ken - learning to fly an airplane is easier than learning this pile of non-intuitive rubbish. Imagine the chaos if Boeing and Airbus suddenly decided to reverse the throttle positions or transpose the aileron and elevator controls on a airplane. I'm only glad Microsoft don't build planes. The whole point of standards and continuity is to avoid the need to learn new methods. If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Windows 8 is enough to make anyone move over to Apple. Perhaps this is a new idea in Microsoft marketing policy.

This is the best discussion ever... who would have ever though that an Airplane metaphor would be used to discuss an operating system. I will say that I agree with most of the comments. If Airbus or Boeing used Windows and they had to deal with this kind of nonsense every couple of years they would move to ANOTHER OS. Imagine the cost and frustration that would be caused by re-inventing the process of flying an airplane for every airline company in the world. Simply put it is ridiculous. If you want to create a new OS and sell it for new hardware and new technology platforms I am all for it but leave the business desktop alone. NO ONE HAS TIME FOR THIS NONSENSE. WE HAVE WORK TO DO!

Sounds more computer hardware (and perhaps Internet router) connected than Windows 8.1 connected.

Make and model of the computer in question?

make and model of the internet router in question?

Stanley, are you missing the point, anguishing over net vs. box? Anxiety peaks, following the purchase of every new Windows DVD, when an hour after installation, critical functions start failing... literally everywhere. The anxiety is not the d.f. OS that no one expects to improve. The anxiety is having to call for support that really is flying backwards, upside down.

And then, that endless backboard, faceless, unexplained and completely careless, infuriating back board development that makes purchase of a new DVD in a few months inevitable. Windows is... a rat.

I honestly will one day place a recording of certain idiots answering the Answer Desk telephone. Thing is, do we laugh, cry, or simply froth at the mouth? How can we knock what we are all a part of! Right? See, I naturally blame myself for being frankly abused. You too. Swallow your own medicine, even.

But... it's EASY! Suggesting ways Microsoft can stop trying to fly Jumbo's upside-down, backwards.

My last good idea for Mac was early 2012. "It's a cultural thang..." they say.

[ Wait, who's contracting Air Force and Navy? Jee-SUS! ]

Windows 8 is enough to make anyone move over to Apple. Perhaps this is a new idea in Microsoft marketing policy.

    ?!

Nothing new about that in my world. Seriously. http://www.apple.com/. Friend of mine has 2 of the first ever built... one still running!

    Try this. http://store.apple.com/us/buy-mac/imac

    Or this! http://store.apple.com/us/buy-mac/mac-pro

    (my new lush: pro 6core-dual, D700-dual, 2.7Ghzx30, 64GB)

Obviously, Windows is the test ramp. Apple now boasts "3d multi-tasking", while Windows core services [refuse to capitalize that] Search Connector and VSS are stumbling around making my desktop a pile of junk. I just hope that after 34 years of grief, Germany finally allows us another DOS 4.01 breath of fresh air. Is Germany the puppeteer?

8 is 34 years up the dog's... Please be kind though, as we gasp along. We're all here cuz we like bending mind and wit, as Microsoft explores "new possibilities", right? Wish I was a contributing engineer, watching these two fascinating OS's dance along 'together'. Are Bill Gates and the Apple whoever going to party on Wreck Beach again this summer? Ho-humm.

Truly, I feel not one twinge of guilt. My brother engineers for government in places where they design OS's for the jobs at hand. He thinks the "terrible twins" are "spastic junk". TO which we reply, "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!"
