I HATE Windows 8. This is the worst OS ever invented.

No the original poster was right ... windows 8 sucks.

I just joined a win8 machine to a domain, remoted to the server and created a domain user account, then, went to logout so i could login as the new user account...

WHERE IS "LOGOUT".... hmmm... Not an Option... 

Shutdown...Restart... sure after a trip to the bottom right corner click,then half way up the right side click,then back down to the bottom righ click, then click power then click (wait no logout)  <-------------RETARDED

Goto start and type the word logoff   <--------RETARDED... but it works

Anyone who does know how to use Windows 8, would say many more click and traveling across the screen to get the same tasks accomplished.  The functions may be there , but the increase in clicks and traveling across the screen make the OS less functional, and we won't even begin to discuss UGLY!!!

I am not a fortune teller, but I don't think one needs to be to predict the future here. I see Apple gaining at least 10% more of the desktop and laptop market share.... in fact 15 to 20 wouldn't shock me, and I have been a staunch anti apple man for a long time, but this OS will only be adopted when people can no longer get Windows 7 and then if they are home users they will likely go MAC/ Business user may feel more stuck, but only because because the current investment and the reality the most vendors aren't writing for Linux, if they were, this OS would drive them to it quickly.

Just to clarify that - Windows XP is still SUPPORTED right now (albeit extended support) and will be unitl April 2014.  Buying a legitimate copy may be near impossible - but the OS itself is still actually supported.

You are not alone in thinking that the Windows 8 (formerly known as Metro) apps need to be more functional.  However, I read that they are just a preview of the next operating system and are still being developed; I hope it's true.  I find the Start Screen to be much more efficient for me than the Start Button, although I have only used it on a friends computer, as long as I do not have too many apps on it.  Windows 7 IS still around, and is likely to be for up to seven more years, seeing as XP was just discontinued.  If you dislike Windows 8, you can still put Windows 7 on your computers instead, and you can buy Windows 7 computers from most, or all, computer manufacturers if you happen to need a new one.

Hi, RichardVotaw, can I ask you to please refrain from attacking people, and ask you to instead to describe the actual issues or features that you find difficult or do not like, and why it is you find these frustrating.  If you can think of a better way to do the task, then please also describe this too.  Below I have described some of my continuing frustrations, do you agree with these or do you have other frustrations?  Do you like some of the features of Windows 8, that I do not like?  Understanding what it actually is that you do and do not like about Windows 8, is very useful to all of us.

It will only be with well described issues and suggestions that Microsoft could/might enhance the Windows 8 interface.

I do feel RichardVotaw's frustration, and I am confused why the Windows 8 interface has to be the way it is.  For example, I currently believe there are several items that could be improved with Windows 8.

1. The ability to have multiple Windows (not just two) open as the same time is a great advantage. I simply do not  appreciate the Metro interface.  As much as I have been forcing myself to use Mail, I dislike the interface of Metro Internet Explorer (and Java and Flash are still required).   I hope I am not just a single winger, but that many other Windows 8 users agree.
2. When I am in the Metro mode, I miss having visibility of the Date/Time which we do in the Task bar of the Desktop mode.  The same could be said of being able to eject USB devices.
3. While I am currently using the "Start screen", this is not as efficient for me as the previous "Start button".  I am currently resisting purchasing a third party utility that can put it back, waiting for Microsoft to resolve this issue.
4. There needs to be a better way to power off the PC than moving my mouse to the bottom right corner (in attempt to bring up the charms, this is actually quite awkward), then select the "Settings" cog wheel, then select "Power", then select "Shut down".  Once Tablet manufacture actually released a "Power button" for the Desktop, quite a good idea, but only half a solution.  Why is the process to shutdown my PC so laborious ?  At least Windows 7 had it down to select the easy to see and locate "Start button", select "Shut down".

To Shenan Stanley, I would like to say, that I too, like RichardVotaw feel "forced" into Windows 8, as the only alternative is to move to a Mac or to Linux.  Due to Microsoft's dominance of PC market and of  document standards, these are not really options for me.  I realise that I need to accept a certain amount of change for the sake of Tablets, but I do not like the design of Windows 8.  I am also concerned that it is too much change for many of the existing Windows Users, and I am concerned that the changes are not well thought out, and I am concerned that while many Windows Users posted frustrations during beta testing, and continue to do so, from what I can see, Microsoft has not been listening or taking note.

I can only hope if the sales figures reflect the frustration of us Windows Users, then Microsoft will consider significant changes to the interface.  I do not know who is driving the Windows 8 interface in Microsoft, but I hope they change their views or leave.

On a more positive note, I have recently purchased four more Windows 8 upgrades (improving sales figures?).  I have also discovered the Fujitsu Q702, which has i5, USB3, 3G/4G support, a detachable keyboard and a finger print reader.  It seems to be a very nice product.  I would have liked it to also have a stylus or pen and hot swappable batteries, like the Motion J3600.
