After loading and later repairing Windows Essentials I continue to get an error code of 80004001 when starting Photo Gallery,

It comes up right after the initial Photo Gallery screen appears.

Followed instructions to the letter, except that I don't have a 3rd party firewall program.

    Deleted Program Files/Windows Live.

No Windows Live in Common Files.

No Windows Live in Program Files x86.

    Already had automatic updates active.

Reset everything in IE as instructed.

Downloaded Essentials 2012 and got successful installation,

Photo Gallery initial window appears with an immediate Error box saying again:

Photo Gallery encountered an error and can't start.  Error Code: 0x80004001

The date on the Photo Gallery folder is 10/31/2009  11:26 PM

It contains an en-US folder which is empty.

Also after installing Essentials there is no Windows Live folder in Program Files.

Thanks Gerard, But there is no Blue/File tab on the Photo Gallery window that appears and it is impossible to get anything from Photo Gallery because it has an error box that only say the 80004001 error has occurred and can't be started.

Nothing can be done until you OK the error message box and then everything goes away.

    Hi ceport,

We need to check the version and build of your Photo Gallery. To check, locate then click the Blue/File menu tab in your Windows Live Photo Gallery or press (Alt + F), click on the About Photo Gallery. In addition, approximate the date that this issue first appeared and if there were any changes to the computer/Photo Gallery settings before the issue started.

    Thanks,

    Gerard G.
