Apple has a web page where you can provide feeback to Apple on their products, software, and services:

http://www.apple.com/feedback/

Is there a way to provide feedback to Microsoft on their products, software and services?

Windows for home | Previous Windows versions | Performance and system failures

And just so I CAN leave my feedback SOMEWHERE (even though there is a gnat's eyelash of a chance that someone at MS with ANY ability to do ANYTHING about this feedback will see it here)...... Here is what I would like to tell MS about Outlook.com:

I use a hotmail account for business. I know, it's kinda dumb. I probably shouldn't, but I do.

I use outlook.com on the web for email.

Here is what I want MS to consider (and despite some STRATEGIC use of CAPS, some SNARKY comments, and excess punctuation in places, THIS IS NOT A RANT this contains valuable feedback):

    1. I cannot open an attachment in an email I am writing. Once I attach the file I can only "Remove" it by clicking on it. I cannot open it to verify that it is the correct file. I must browse to the file location on my computer and open a version of the file from there, then go back to the message and send. Why can I view the file on a desktop-installed version of Outlook but not on Outlook.com??? Most annoying.
    2. I cannot find an email sent by someone by using a part of their name or email address. I must use the whole email address in order to find the email. Why? Search should find any and all emails with the entered characters..... This is annoying and time-consuming needlessly. Please fix.
    3. When I go to my sent files it does not show the recipient of my messages. All messages show my name as the sender. THIS IS STUPID. I want to be able to view my sent emails and see quickly and easy who the recipient(s) is/are. I do not want to have to click each message, open it, close it, go back, and click the next just to find the one email I sent to a specific person or people. **** MS???
    4. I recently ran into the problem of having too much data in my account, and people could not send me emails with anything attached. I could not find how much storage I had available, or how much I was currently using. This is STUPID. Users should be able to see how much data their account has and how close they are to the limit. Likewise, making more room took me HOURS as there is no easy way to find, delete, sort, or even view emails. I wanted to delete sent files older than a certain date, so I had to "Jump to" that date -- which took a lot longer than it should have because I could not just type the date and go there, I had to scroll through calendar images....back four years....month by month.....what a JOKE.  So I got to the date I wanted to delete everything received before that time....then I had to go PAGE BY PAGE because Outlook.com will only display 35 emails per page. There is no option to make this a bigger or smaller number. WHY? **** MS? Why should my mailbox capacity be a mystery to me until I get called by someone and alerted to the fact that they can't send me an email with an attachment because my account is full....then go through a headache just to find there is nowhere to see my storage limit or where my account currently stands, then go through a few hours of email cleaning just to make more room..... THIS SHOULD BE A QUICK AND EASY PROCESS.

Why do I keep emails for so many years? As I said, I use my account for business, and it is real estate. I am mandated to keep files for a certain number of years. I could download these files, but honestly, there are so many free and virtually limitless-storage email options out there (WITHOUT ADS!!) so why does MS expect me to put up with this **** AND LOOK AT STUPID ADS!?!?!?

    In conclusion:

I routinely experience time wasting, frustrating, and inconvenient aspects of outlook.com, yet I am still using it. There may come a breaking-point where I move my email completely away from MS, but why would MS want me to get to that point? The risk at that stage is that I would consider all of MS to be as "bad" an experience as I have been having with outlook.com.....and I don't know why a company would want an end-user to feel this way.

However, if MS is going to make it impossible for an end-user to even leave constructive feedback somewhere where it can be seen, digested, considered, and acted-upon then I guess the answer is plain: MS simply doesn't give a flying toaster what end-users think.

If this kind of haughtiness continues, it'll be time for a new OS company (one with end-users in mind) to rise up and dethrone MS! I may not pay MS anything for outlook.com, but as I said above, there are plenty of alternatives (has anyone at MS even looked at GMAIL? They are handing your butts to you as far as end-user experience goes).

No Richard....maybe if you clicked those links you would find that Microsoft does not provide any mechanism for people to provide feedback about ANY of their products. These so-called feedback links lead to an endless merry-go-round of "Community Forums" and "Tech Help Desk" where the "helper" can only direct you back to the beginning of the trail which leads -- guess where? -- directly back to the chat you are already using! Talk about wasting money and time!!!

If MS cared about what people thought of their products they would have an open and easy feedback forum. As it is, they do not, they have a de facto monopoly as something around 90% of all computers are using their OS.... So they just don't care that end-users find their products to be clunky, slow, glitchy, etc. Or that end-users may have feedback that could greatly improve the products' function and desirability.

MS is more about "take it, b****" than "how was that, dear?".

I challenge you to actually try to leave feedback for MS.... I bet the best you will be able to do is vent at some poor "tech support help" person hired by a 3rd party contractor in Manila to handle MS's 24 hour internet black hole of "chat".

Yes, I agree. The mechanisms for giving feedback have been improving since this post started.  Microsoft has been soliciting and following up on user feedback much more.

My hope in responding earlier was to get any Microsoft folks on the post to take a step back and try to understand better the user request and the need for clear, consistent methods for not only getting support/answers but also for gathering feedback/ideas, which are differing situations.  Microsoft has tended to have many, somewhat different solutions for any given issue.  The "One Microsoft" initiative should help clean out unnecessary mechanisms and make the remaining mechanisms more consistent.

Microsoft is transitioning still from product releases every 1 to 3 years to services that are more frequently updated.  This requires better feedback mechanisms and quicker understanding of user comments. Microsoft has been putting much effort into both of these.

Yep, this has been a frustrating thread.

However, to give Microsoft their dues, since this thread was first created I think they've improved the ease and discoverability of means to provide feedback, at least in the most modern version of Windows and recently overhauled apps and web services.

In Windows 10 there is a dedicated Windows feedback app in which you can provide feedback on Windows or Microsoft's bundled metro apps (Mail, Calendar, Calulator, Groove Music etc). The app provides a public tally of which are the most popular ideas/bug reports which you can just upvote if you wish rather than creating a brand new idea. You can also launch this app from the settings section of Micorosft's various metro apps.

Its also now easy to provide feedback on various online services (Outlook.com, OneDrive, Office Online). Just click the gear or hamburger icon in the top right hand corner and you'll see a send feedback option. I have received personal responses on some of the feedback I've provided through this form.

The various Microsoft apps I use on my Android phone have a send feedback option in the settings menu.

The main thing missing (at least for those who have upgraded to Windows 10) is an easy way to provide on the Windows desktop version of Office. Hoefully this will come with Office 2016. Making it easier to provide feedback on Microsoft hardware is also still needed.
